Overall Good Quality Place, but With a Few Issues
January 25, 2024I think you can do a lot worse for apartment condition and quality of management/maintenance, but I had several problems. I personally had higher than normal rent, but that's because I had a shorter lease period. I was always planning on moving out at the end of my lease, but even if that were not the case, I don't think I'd renew. Also, as a note, be sure that the unit your touring is the one you're renting, or ask if the one you're renting has updated appliances. There were roaches, and the ...exterminator who was called in multiple times did little if anything to help the problem; it was only homemade/store bought solutions which helped. (Note, if renting, ask how long the apartment has been unoccupied, as I think the roaches get in during that time) There was an intermittent water leak from two floors above which took weeks for maintenance to find and fix. When I contacted management about tobacco smoke smell in the hallway, they referred me to the front desk, and on a later date when I contacted the front desk, they told me to contact management. During the transition of the seasons, the building can only be switched from cooling to heating one time, so there are cold days in the fall where the heat still hasn't come on (and I assume there'd be hot days in the spring when the AC hasn't yet come on). Midway through my lease, the building got upgraded fiber internet, which sounds great, but the monthly internet bill was double what I was paying before, with no option to opt out and continue the old service. It was objectively better service, though, so I can't complain too much. In fairness to maintenance personnel, the problems were genuinely difficult to fix/diagnose. Which tenants were living like slobs and attracting the roaches? Where is this leak that only happens once every few days coming from? Who of the dozen or so tenants on this floor is smoking in their apartment? I've definitely had worse management and places in far worse condition, but I hope to have better in my next place.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com

January 28, 2023The Apartment advertises that there is a walking score of 91, I believe this to be a little inaccurate, it's probably closer to 96. My wife and I wanted to move in to a place where we could walk to major attractions without driving. There is coffee Shops within a block, parks everywhere, river walk right at your back door,, half a block from PNC park, a block and 1/2 from Heinz Field, I mean Acrusure, yuck. August 15, 2022Unit was not cleaned prior to move in. Staff and Management are rude and unhelpful. If they do help they provide inaccurate or partial information. Will not fix maintenance issues if it’s “to hard to fix today”Review from Apartments.com

December 3, 2020I’ve lived at Parkview for three years both in a one bedroom and a studio, I cannot wait for my lease to be over and to move. I feel like I live in a dorm with my neighbors constantly partying and blaring opera until 3am. The hallways constantly smell of weed. My dishwasher needs to be ran atleast 2 times to even remotely clean my dishes. Everytime the HVAC is switch to heat or AC it breaks. I went the entire summer with the AC barely working and they wouldn’t believe me until I complained ...several times. I slept on the floor in the living room because it was so hot in my bedroom. My kitchen floor tiles are not even glued to the floor and pop right off. They have lost my packages despite confirming with USPS that the package was indeed delivered to their office. There are constantly bugs in my apartment because the windows are poorly sealed. I could keep going on and on. They also keep sending emails how they’re going to send our packages back or take away the shopping carts (to help carry groceries into the apartments) just because some tenants are terrible and can’t follow the rules. That’s fine, but don’t punish everyone just because of some bad apples. Yes the location is great but that’s really all that it has going for it. The price I pay is not worth living here anymore. Moved Out
August 25, 2020When I moved in last year, I didn’t pay attention to the state of the apartment because the location meant more for me. Throughout the year, we had few times of water in the shower not being hot, a whole week of washers and dryers in PV4 not working and other small “problems” like these. However, I still tried to enjoy my stay there. When moving in, the bathroom looked terrible, looked like they painted the bathtub over hair and I had to clean it, still didn’t help and I put a mat there. My ...kitchen looked terrible, all in cracks and stains. I could not use the oven because of how bad it looked and smelled when I tried to cook something on/in it. Now, when I moved out, I was returned only about 30% of my security deposit. And for the most part, I don’t agree with the deductions. Anyways, “good” place to live, just make sure you have all the photos of before on your phone and don’t be shy to complain (because I was)!Property Manager Responded

September 25, 2018Don't live here if you can help it. I noticed the ceiling over my bed had begun leaking so I put in a maintenance request. It's been almost 30 days since, and the leaks are only multiplying. After waking up in puddles of dirty rain water multiple nights, and having a ceiling covered in disgusting rust-colored stains that give off a strong acidic odor, I can't stay in my own apartment anymore. The leasing folks are ignoring my emails and I'm only able to get through to the maintenance staff. The ...customer service here needs an extreme overhaul. September 20, 2018Run! they will charge what they want and everything its “on the 12 pages lease” with very small letters. this is an old building newly painted and they charge you like if it was a new one. no windows in bathrooms: smells stays forever! balconys are a huge problem in winter. kitchen cabinets are cheap and uglly. they decide when you can use heat or AC and somedays arw hoy and they have the heat on and other days are very cold and they have no heat and they said its free so they can do as they ...please. very bad experienceProperty Manager Responded

Wish I knew better
April 30, 2018Moving from NY, had no idea of the different communities in Pittsburgh so I wound up here. IT IS EXTREMELY OVERPRICED IF YOU ARE LIVING ALONE, two people splitting rent in a 2 bedroom is okay. It seems once every few weeks they turn the water in my building off, have no idea why. For the ENTIRE 12 MONTHS of my lease, when showering the water will randomly hit you with a burst of molten lava, happens consistently and at least 4-5 times during a 5 minute shower and is the perfect way to start every ...morning infuriated. Parking in their garages is overpriced. Great Experience
April 5, 2018I relocated to Pittsburgh and luckily discovered this apartment complex. I really enjoyed my experience at Park View Apartments. The entire staff is friendly and very responsive. The location is amazing - great coffee shops, restaurants, and breweries/pubs are walkable. The dog park and tennis courts are right around the corner. Plus, it is a 15 minute walk to get downtown. The indoor gym is spacious with lots of machines. In addition, the North Side neighborhood is rapidly improving! Do not sign a lease with Faros
March 24, 2018Terrible experience with the staff, management and property. Take the negative comments about Faros and Park View that you read on the internet seeiously. We did not and it was a nightmare experience from start to finish. Staff is terribly rude. Specifically, if you are working with either Julia, watch out. Terrible, terrible people and they are poisoning our city. The units are not worth the price and are cheaply built and maintained for the rising prices. My heart goes out to all who still live ...there. I will speak with anyone considering signing a lease. If you can involve a lawyer when working with them, do it.
