About Pearl Place Apartments

Experience the convenience of downtown living, the quiet of a senior community, and the luxury of a newly renovated apartment when you live at Pearl Place! The oldest part of Pearl Place was originally built in 1893 as a school. It underwent several additions, changed from being a high school to a middle school, and then was later converted to an Affordable Housing apartment complex for seniors, which is what it was when Gorman & Company bought and took over the property in 2023, and what it still is today. Gorman & Company almost immediately began renovations on the building, updating and remodeling each apartment while working to restore and preserve the building's historic charm. We are proud to offer a variety of amenities including a courtyard with grills, elevators, a laundry room on every floor, on-call maintenance, a community room, a fitness center, and - soon - computers for resident use. Our 1- and 2-bedroom senior apartments are located in the heart of Belvidere, just off of State St and Logan Ave, situating it within walking distance to a myriad of local shops, cafés, bars, and restaurants, the Belvidere Community Building, and everything else downtown Belvidere has to offer. *Pearl Place Apartments is an Equal Housing Opportunity. Not senior user friendly at all. Gorman money grab.

No office staff to address questions, concerns. When the person is in, door is closed and there is no response or follow up with tennants. No maintenance staff at all. None. Remodel done poorly. Doors don't shut.Heating units routinely don't work, not sure on a/c yet. Shelving not installed on studs, come out of drywall, unusable. All tennants have issues with running of building. Poor organization. Only able to enter through 1 door now making grocery runs difficult and deliveries. No assigned ...
parking which is a mess. Key fobs don't work regularly have to be redone. Money grab for Gorman. Look elsewhere. Honestly thought it would get better. It just gets worse.

I have to wonder if someone wrote a bad review to keep others away. It can't be all bad and filled to 100%. I have seen this place and find it to be a great mix of demographic and wonderful people. I'd live here if I could.
