Crime infested
September 5, 2022We were looking for a place for my 75 year old mother. We found Ramsey Village and called the property manager several times and left messages without getting a return phone call. We finally talked to her and arraigned for a showing. We felt rushed through the showing, the manager was hurried and was impatient with us. The apartment was nothing special but it was affordable and it would do until we could get mom into another place.2 weeks before move in the property manager contacted mom saying ...the current tenants are unable to move for a few more weeks but she had another apartment like the one we had seen. Move in we picked up the keys. The apartment hadn’t been cleaned, it smelled, had pet hair all over, the bathrooms and shower were disgusting, holes in the walls and the ones that were fixed were unpainted. We went right back to the office but it was closed up. We started cleaning. We discovered dog poop under the stove and the carpeted floors where filled with sand. The manager returned our calls days later and said that they had hired a cleaning company to clean all vacant apartments prior to the new tenants moving in and said we were just being fussy. The neighborhood is unsafe, lots of crime, you can’t go out at night without fear of being robbed or assaulted. Homeless people passed out or sleeping on the sidewalks, people begging, people living in the dumpsters. A women tried getting into my mom’s apartment in the middle of the day, this was one of many times someone tried getting into her apartment, or rang her door bell in the middle of the night. When brought to the attention of management their response was “it’s West Duluth, what do you expect?” Parking on the street is limited and the garages barely fit a compact car. On move out day, we had to have someone out at the moving truck at all times, people were trying to take stuff from the truck. We got mom moved out and into a nice 55+ place in Hermantown. September 15, 2016We are being located to Duluth due to husbands job and we fell in love with this place, it's beautiful but, they don't take a pet.. We would have taken it on the spot.Review from Apartments.com
