broke part way through my second year here, and I terminated my lease early. Despite my understanding that there was substantially no gap between the date through which I paid rent and when a subsequent tenant began paying rent, Scott Villa stuck me with a $5,600 bill, which they threatened to forward to a collection agency if I did not pay it within 10 days. The bill included a $2,325 penalty fee for the early termination, a $1,000 repair job for deteriorated floor board that was present when I first moved in (but which was apparently not recorded by management, leaving me allegedly liable, even though I believe this should be treated as ordinary wear and tear for which the apartment complex should cover), and a $2,200 new paint job. The local leasing office dodged my calls and voicemails to negotiate the final invoice, and I reluctantly paid the amount to avoid the alleged debt being sent to a collection agency. I thereafter continued to attempt to contact the local leasing office, including by email, to request at least a partial refund. Again, I was ignored for weeks. It seems to me that Scott Villa has raked in a grossly excessive profit on my decision to terminate early. Throughout my stay, I had actually maintained friendly relations with the local office. Thus, I had initially intended to not leave a review describing the noise issues listed above as a courtesy. This grotesque bill has changed my mind. Spare yourself, and continue your search.
