I've had a good experience at South Shore Lakes Apartment Homes so far. The office staff has been helpful and easy to work with whenever I've had questions. The property is kept up well, and it's generally a quiet place to live. Maintenance has been responsive when needed, and the location is convenient for getting to stores and restaurants. The office staff is always friendly and easy to talk to, and maintenance has always been quick whenever I've put in a request. The property stays clean, it's usually pretty quiet, and I like that it's close to everything without feeling too busy. AC not working properly. They just blew me off. Then it goes out completely. 86 degrees inside. Recurring black mold in vents. Electrical zapping and burning causing half of electricity to go out. No upgrades in apartment. Rent too high for quality of apartment and services provided or not provided.

Awful office staff

I stayed there only as long as my lease. The location was nice, but the apartments were just okay. The thing that pushed me past my point was how hard it was to get any help from the office. At the time they had windows behind their desks, and I could not tell you how many times I went in to ask a question only to be told 'yes one moment' as one of the girls would pretend to do something on the computer... all the while I could see an episode of FRIENDS playing on her monitor in the reflection of ...

the window. Multiple times. Their office hours also mean nothing, you can call and you've only got a 50% chance of getting anyone to pick the phone up and a 10% chance of having someone call you back.

13 maintenance requests in 9 months

First, the staff and maintenance crew are great. They are always timely and nice. But these are old units with old appliances and we have had many issues. I've had to submit 13 maintenance requests in 9 months and many are recurring. My first garage flooded. My second garage has had the door break 3 times. I've had to have the AC fixed 5 times. Luckily not in summer. 50% of the electrical outlets didn't work when we moved in and some still don't. In summary, you're going to have problems ...

but you can also know that maintenance will be there quickly to fix it.

The place stinks and is making all my belongings smell like the rotten stench that reeks from the walls. There's no where to walk you're dog. The customer service is horrible. I've been waiting 2 months for them to put grass in my mini yard. How ridiculous is that. There's no gate clicker, you have to stop and manually put in the code every day. The parking is terrible. the middle of no where. Takes like 15 minutes to get to the freeway. Oh and way overpriced when you can go down the street and get a brand new apartment for the same price. I can not wait to get out of this place.

We had an appointment to view an apartment as a potential resident. We walked into the office where two-three employees were present. One lady was going over apartment plans with a young lady who as just walked in and asked to look around. Second lady was speaking with what we assumed was a current tenant. (She may have been an employee since she was sitting behind a desk.) A man was also sitting at a table waiting for assistance. We walked into the office, stood inside for 10 mins and no one ...

spoke to us! One lady made eye contact but no one acknowledged us. We'd have been happy to wait if someone had at least acknowledged our presence. No thanks! If this is how you are treated when they are trying to entice you to live there, how would you be treated if you actually had a problem! Too many other options in the city with higher apartment reviews!
