No Security or Surveillance
April 21, 2023Southern Hills advertises that their property is under video surveillance but after someone broke into my apartment by breaking a window it was revealed to me that they actually do not have cameras anywhere besides at the front door. I strongly recommend that anyone reading refrain from renting an apartment on the bottom floor of this complex.Review from Apartments.com
Spacious, quiet apartment
October 25, 2019I have been super impressed with management and the apartment thus far! The landlord is very easy to get along with and get ahold of if you have questions or concerns and allowed me to select a flexible move in date. I submitted a maintenance request and the problem was resolved in less than 24 hours. It is a secure building with cameras and I never hear my neighbors. Packages are delivered right to my apartment door. Spacious living room and master bedroom with a large walk in closet-- very ...affordable for the amount of space. Small town should equal low expectations
August 8, 2015We moved in this apartment as new grads that transplanted from the east coast. This was reasonably priced and given multiple suggestions this was the best Marshalltown had to offer. With that being said our apartment had roaches. We couldn't spend our first night in the apartment as it was unsettling. John the manager did get professionals on site to get rid of the pests but they had caused infestation in appliances. We had to have our refrigerator and stove replaced. We now have exterminators ...in every 2-3 months. Aside from the bug issue our rent checks were lost TWICE without explanation! We now pay online which has a fee. If you are looking for a community feeling this may not be the place as most people are hi and bye.
