Unsafe Apartments
July 24, 2023There are several reasons that this complex is an unsafe place to live. I witnessed violent crimes in the parking lot. Many drug deals are happening throughout. There is an influx of people coming and going from inside the buildings due to such behaviors at all hours . There is even a gang that lives in the complex. I moved out due to these reasons and more. Including the fact that I was in a building with one-bedroom apartments and a family of five lived above me. I could hear them running ...around and yelling at all hours of the day as late as 2 am. This was so much so to the point it would rattle my light fixtures and dishes in my cabinets. There were many bugs that I would see all around the apartment no matter how clean it was kept. The parking was terrible not just on the daily but when moving in and out having to walk through the entire complex to carry things into the building. Especially with such a high crime rate and not wanting to leave the building or cars open this becomes a problem. If I came back after 5 pm there was never any parking. Many spots were taken by the office work trucks overnight. They replace the carpet after moving out without any damages and charge the renter for the replacement costs. They say they replace them before a new person moves in but never mention that the renter would pay the cost. Horrible apartments
March 26, 2022I currently live at these apartments and I gotta say I really hate living here. Due to its reputation and just the whole atmosphere. I read the other reviews saying there is roaches and just be aware they’re are A LOT of roaches and other bugs. Parking is all together horrible getting to the apartments is already tight jammed. Due to other residents parked on the side of the of the road. Since most residents have multiple cars per apartment. Community is very loud, from 3pm to sometimes late in ...the night you still hear people shouting. Parking is terrible anybody parks there if they don’t want to park on the side of the road. Kids can be seen loitering and running in and out of apartments. They also litter and make messes in the inside of the apartments. Office staff is very incompetent. May 7, 2019This is the absolute worst place to live in Frederick. They treat their residents like trash. My time living here I received threat notices time to time. They didn’t care to fix the roach problem until a resident moved out then I stopped seeing them a lot. I wouldn’t recommend no one to move at Elmwood.Review from Apartments.com
less than you pay for
June 14, 20181st, accept the fact that you will have roaches and ants regardless of how many useless pest control treatments they do. If there is a way in, pests will find it and the management is not willing to fix it. 2nd, it is an older community. That being said, the floors are super creeky from settling. Get a top floor apt or you will hear your neighbors at all hours. The seals on the doors are old and your stove vents are connected, so you will smell everything from other apartments. Smoke, food, ...trash or whatever. Do not be taken in by the pics online or the model you see when you visit. The appliances are not updated. They are old and yellowing. You will hear your neighbors the walls and floor are thin. 3rd, shared water... water consumed, sewer and water heating. Your shared bill is about $80 a month. Add to the fact that most apartments have more people living in them than they should. Like 6-7 plus in a two bedroom. So you are paying extra for people not being counted on the lease. 4th, management. There are a few nice ladies in the office, I will admit that. Generally speaking though, most complaints are met with a "what do you want me to do about it?" attitude. 5th, parking. If you come home after 730pm you are not getting a spot. it's partially due to more people living here than there should be. Part because people park a ridiculous amount of work trucks here. So personal business vehicles. The complex parks all maintenance trucks on site so that also takes spots. I also see people from our sister complex (hunters glen) across the way park their extra vehicles in our spots so not to clog their lot. The only great thing is gas heat and stove. Your 1st bill will be super high. I suspect because you just paid for the gas used for heat while the apartment was unoccupied. I encourage you to aggressively look over your place when you move in. Our carpets were old and dirty, fixtures are old in the bathrooms, our toilet seat was broke. Do the move in form, don't get nailed for it when your lease is up. The people who call this an urban retreat, charming abode or "luxury" either have no standards, are lying or the management writing a bogus review. Not the worst but it's not those things. We can be honest about that. you are close to the highway also have many shops and business around you. You need to note the extreme police presence in this area. One bedroom with large full closet, one full bathroom with plenty storage space. Open layout of large den and kitchen, each with plenty storage space. One wide large insulated south-facing window each in den and bedroom with views of seasonal nature. September 8, 2015Since I move in Elmwood Terrace my life has changed for the better.Living here reminds me of living in another beautiful country,somewhere in the farmlands of england or even Scotland perhaps. I was born in and raised in nyc and let me tell you know where in nyc is as beautiful and peaceful as Elmwood Terrace. Sometimes I forget I even have neighbors,you can live here and never need a car,because public transportation is at your doorstep.I don't even need to go to the beach,I have the pleasures ...of having a swimming pool at my convience ,oh now it's mention a beautiful gym to workout also. August 19, 2015I have only lived in these apartments for about 3 months so far, and they have exceeded my expectations. When I first moved in, I heard a lot of negativity about the apartments due to the location. But I have loved every second of living here. We live on the second floor and cannot hear our neighbors to either side of us or above us. First apartment I have ever lived in that it has been this quiet! The rooms are very spacious although we only live in a one bedroom, by december we will be moving ...to a 2 bedroom since we are expecting our first child! The pricing is remarkable compared to other complexes we looked at in the past. Very clean and very safe. We have security around the clock driving around, and the apartments have a keypad with your own personal code to let you in your building. 4 1/2 years and it's been great!
August 23, 2015When you are apartment shopping it's a hard decision to make which one is right for you. 4 1/2 years ago I moved from Washington state to Maryland. I chose Elmwood Terrance and I have been here ever since. The apartment complex is nice and clean. There are two pools we can access. The best thing about Elmwood is the maintenance staff. They are great. I have never had to wait for them to fix anything and they are quick to respond. I completely trust the staff 100%. Melissa is a great apartment ...manager. They are great to deal with. If I have any problems they are on point to address them right away!
