Poorly managed

Good location and friendly front desk staff. Unfortunately, the building is poorly managed and comes with constant problems. An elevator goes down for days or weeks several times a month, there's frequent water shutoffs or no hot water, broken doors, and poor communication from management.

We understand the inconvenience that the (1) elevator that has been out of service due to delayed manufacturing parts have resulted in longer wait times for the other (3) operational elevators has been less than ideal. Best place I’ve ever lived in Chicago. Grateful to be a Deco resident of almost 4 leases. Wonderful leasing, concierge, management, and engineering team. Great amenities, incredible value, premium location, and welcoming community events every month. The Deco is where to be if considering living in Gold Coast.

For the price of this apartment, I do not think it is worth it. There is constantly work being done to the apartment that causes disturbances to daily living, including water shut downs for multiple days in a row and elevators being closed for weeks at a time when there are 22 floors in the building. Management can sometimes be slow to get ahold of. For this price, I think you can find much better. Wouldn’t really recommend.

The Deco is a lovely building right across from the lake. Great location. Some units are nicely updated - others are not. It’s an old building and, with that issues are to be expected. In general, management is very responsive.

Poorly maintained

While the location and the rooftop amenity is second to none, I do not recommend living at The Deco long term. An elevator up to the residential units goes out for 24-48 hours 3-4 times a month, in addition the lone elevator to the basement (laundry, gym and other amenities) goes out of commission on a monthly basis. While neither are detrimental to living, they are a major inconvenience and do not justify the monthly rate charged by the deco. The front desk/doormen are second to none. Jonathan ...
