I love the location and the many wonderful neighbors. I do not like the fact that my neighbor smokes and I am suffering from exposure to secondhand smoke. I have reported this situation to the management three times. A letter was sent to my neighbor and I hope this issue will be resolved soon. I am paying rent for a two bedroom apartment, but the second bedroom is uninhabitable due to smoke coming through the vent. When I signed my contract, I understood this was a non-smoking building.

Zen is a fantastic living facility for seniors. The staff and residents are all fantastic. I feel like Zen is my new family. There is always some activity going on and the Thursday morning breakfast served in the dining room is very nice and plentiful.

I am enjoying my new apartment, the other residents are very welcoming and friendly. The office staff, when they are there, are very helpful and answer all my questions. I find it's easier to email them than stop by the office since no one is ever there. The maintenance is where I have a problem. The guy never is around and I am still waiting now over a month to get my dishwasher fixed. It has not worked since I moved in on April 15th.

Zen is a pleasant place to live but not affordable for many. Rent is way too high for a one bedroom apartment Also, there is a definite lack of maintenance workers. A couple of weeks ago when my toilet was backed up, I had to wait 5 days before a maintenance worker was available to come up and solve the problem (which took all of 5 minutes to unclog). This problem required three trips to the office inquiring when someone would be available to come up and take care of the problem. Running to ...
the public bathroom down the hall in the middle of the night is unacceptable and is an invitation for older people who are sleepy to fall. Not to mention a definite health hazard living with a clogged up dirty toilet for a week. One other thing, trash is not being emptied frequently. Often there are bags sitting on the floor because the trash (recycled) bins are full.

Simply put, it is 2 AM and I have been woken up again by an inconsiderate upstairs neighbor. This happens repeatedly. I've asked twice for some accommodation an have basically been ignored. It is impossible to live where you cannot sleep. I can't get out fast enough, but unfortunately I am stuck in a lease for many more months.
