Left in limbo for a month
November 18, 2025Applied to live here, they made it seem like they were working with me, showed my income was well over the needed amount, they said I needed more. Asked for a cosigner with my credit, got one, wasn’t enough, needed more. Explained my situation living in a hotel with a child, showed no compassion. Been talking with someone for a month to be denied after the hotel says I can’t stay there anymore due to rules for 30 days max stay! Even got a program to pay first month and security deposit, and that ...wasn’t enough. The property management got what was needed and kept moving the goal post, the lady made it seem like she cared but I can tell that isn’t true after today. Avoid this complex by any means necessary. If you have small children, I urge you to reconsider
November 17, 2025I never write reviews, particularly negative ones. I don’t believe in slandering a reputation without good reason. However, my experience living in this building was so distressing and the management is absolutely appalling. If you’re considering moving here, think carefully. The building looks beautiful, but beneath the surface you’ll find paper-thin walls, management that refuses to communicate with residents, and a system that penalizes families instead of addressing clear structural issues. ...If you have small children, I strongly urge you to reconsider.Property Manager Responded
December 16, 2025Ms. Romano, Thank you for sharing your feedback and for being forthright about your family’s experience at The Grand at Stony Hill. Please accept our sincere apologies that your time here was distressing and that you felt unfairly treated. Creating a positive environment for all residents is our top priority, and resident concerns, both yours and others, were taken extremely seriously. Management did receive separate complaints from neighbors living directly below your unit on two distinct occasions regarding persistent and unusually high noise levels. These complaints were not made lightly: they ultimately led to the relocation of two different households, a situation that has not occurred elsewhere in our community. Unfortunately, the unit below your apartment remained vacant for an extended period due to ongoing concerns, resulting in lost revenue and disruption for other residents. We genuinely value families and understand the challenges that come with raising young children in ...multi-family housing. We appreciate the efforts you took to minimize noise and want to clarify that the building’s construction standards are comparable to similar communities in our area. However, noise transmission can be difficult to fully control. In your case, management offered a move to a ground-floor unit to help remedy the issue and prevent further conflict - an option that was respectfully declined. Please understand that lease renewals are at-will under Connecticut law, and landlords may exercise their right not to renew for any reason, provided it is within legal boundaries. Our decisions are not intended to target families, but are based on balancing the needs of all residents, maintaining the community standards, and ensuring everyone’s comfort. We strive to communicate as transparently as possible and regret that our efforts did not meet your expectations or provide the clarity you sought.
