  • Bad Faith Rent Practices

    February 28, 2025
    Unfortunately, after 4 years the latest management company is now engaging in completely unreasonable rent practices. Last year, they offered a renewal at a 40% increase. Nothing about the property has been improved, mind you. We were able to negotiate a 20% increase, (at the absolute boundary of reasonable). One year later, they have now offered another 20% increase less than 30 days before the end of our lease, (we only received this offer after asking the office twice why we had not yet ...
    received a new offer). 40% over 2 years is insanity. The average rent increase in Illinois in 2024 was 5%. It's sad they treat long-term tenants this way. Nice property, but it's becoming clear there is no relationship between tenant and management. I hope to come to a reasonable compromise, but that's up to them at this point.

  • Location is not everything

    This place is in one of the safest and wealthiest suburbs of Chicago but don’t let that fool you. The customer service is subpar as is much of the apartment itself. Other than when you’re about to sign the lease, they take quite awhile to respond. The leasing office is only open two days a week. This is fine as long as they can respond to emails or phone calls quickly but they don’t. Every time I have tried to contact them, it would take a week or longer for them to respond. This was an ...
    especially troublesome when it was time to find another apartment and move out. The apartments I was moving to sent a request for rental verification by email to Hinsdale. The new place I was moving to never received that form so I was unable to move in to the new apartment because of their negligence. To me, I would consider this an emergency, but they clearly didn’t. Because instead of resolving this issue, they went on a three day holiday and ruined mine. I am now essentially homeless having to rely on staying at a hotel at my own expense. I also have to pay a daily rental for moving truck since my stuff is being held in said truck. On top of all that, I may have just lost the apartment. I was planning on moving to due to their negligence. But hey, location is everything, right
