A big community with a mom and pop service.
April 21, 2026My wife and I moved to San Diego from Miami, Florida almost three years ago. To our surprise, many condos, older apartments, and rental homes here don’t include the amenities we were used to often offering only heat, shared laundry, or no washer and dryer at all. When those features are available, you often have to sacrifice either location or affordability. During our first year, we lived in a condo and experienced those challenges firsthand, including the difficulty of finding pet-friendly ...options. As our lease was coming to an end, we started searching again and eventually discovered a large development called The Margo. The property is only about four to five years old and consists of new construction surrounded by three other buildings, a resort, and the convention center. It’s a thoughtfully designed community that offers resident discounts and regular events, creating a sense of connection without feeling overcrowded or overwhelming. The location is excellent as well. It sits next to the golf course and is only about a five-minute walk from the trolley and the mall. While that could easily create congestion, the area is strategically designed to keep traffic and foot flow from disrupting the neighborhood, and inviting transients. There are always events at the resort that encourage residents to participate everything from line dancing to pet friendly gatherings, and residents often receive discounts to join in. Between the strong community atmosphere, the amenities, the location, and the value, living here has been well worth it so far. This will be our third lease renewal, and we plan to stay until our next big move.Property Manager Responded

Walkable for Mission Valley, Friendly Staff
April 21, 2026We have lived here for almost 2 years and plan to renew for a third. The Margo has been a huge upgrade from our prior apartment. The amenities are great, the recently remodeled gym has lots of good equipment and the staff are all friendly and very attentive. The location is great— an easy walk to fashion valley mall, 20ish minute walk to Hillcrest via Bachman, easy access to the highway with minimal highway noise (probably also depends which way your unit faces) and a nice setting with town and ...country downstairs with discounts at their bars and restaurants. The community generally feels very safe and there is security present all night (maybe not the most proactive security I’ve seen but at least there’s a presence). When there have been incidents it seems like the building is quick to respond. I think given the location at the center of a large urban area it is inevitable there will continue to be minor incidents but generally we feel quite safe; it’s very hard to get up to the apartment floors without a fob. Overall, would recommend to anyone for location, value, staff and amenities.Property Manager Responded

Horrible security
February 15, 2026The security they have does nothing. The owners have been made aware about cars being stolen, personal belongings being stolen. The answer we got is it’s too expensive and nothing will be done to fix the problem.Property Manager Responded

Great Improvement!
November 20, 2025I will say that the staff has made any small concern easier. The perks are the walk score (right next to Fashion Valley and the trolley). There is a sense of community in the building that I haven't had at other buildings in San Diego. The staff knows people, dogs, kids. I've seen kids talking to the manager like she's their family member. They do free dog treats on Fridays. It's nice to live somewhere where the staff knows your name and face. The cons are certain things like the limited parking ...and length of time that the gym took to complete. The new gym is amazing though, so that's not really a con. Disappointed
November 14, 2024We have been extremely disappointed with this apartment complex since Decron management took over in December 2023. First, we lost access to the other two buildings in the Society complex, which included a larger gym and different amenities. Management refused to compensate us for this loss. Do not live here if you want a functional gym in your apartment. Second, the amount of poop and pee left in the staircases and stains on the carpets from tenants' dogs is disgusting. Forget having any guests ...with cars come visit - there are no parking spaces for them. Next, management is not friendly or helpful in resolving any issues. For instance, they scheduled a power wash of the garage and requested that vehicles be moved for three hours in the middle of the day but did not provide any alternative options as to where residents can park during this time. We also gave them ample notice about us moving out and they required us to paper-sign documentation over the weekend within 24 hours of us providing such notice - no exceptions. The Town and Country hotel is next door, so unless you like loud events and activity during weeknights, this might not be the apartment for you.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
