From the very first day we moved in, we had constant problems with hot water. Turn on the hot water, and cold water came out. Wait 15–20 minutes, and maybe you’d finally get something warm enough to shower with. At night, hot water often didn’t exist at all.
During the winter, taking a shower—or even washing your hands with warm water—became a game of chance.
We contacted maintenance more times than we can count, submitted countless service requests, and met with management over and over again. ...
Time after time, another plumber or contractor would show up, stick a thermometer under the faucet, confirm what we already knew, and leave without fixing anything.
The building manager lived in a different section of the building where, conveniently, the hot water worked just fine. She repeatedly assured us that resolving the issue was her “top priority.” Apparently, it wasn’t much of a priority, because months passed and nothing changed. Then again, she wasn’t the one taking ice-cold showers while paying thousands of dollars in rent every month.
The regional manager was fully aware of everything that was happening. At first, he sounded concerned and promised to follow up. After that conversation, however, our calls seemed to disappear into the same place as the hot water. After more than a year of living with this problem, the grand solution was a “generous” $300 credit. Apparently, that’s what more than a year without reliable hot water is worth.

Evgeni, we recognize that the hot water issue caused significant frustration, and we regret that your experience fell short of expectations. Because this involved a complex building system issue that has since been resolved, we worked with multiple licensed plumbing contractors over an extended period to diagnose and correct the problem. The troubleshooting process also required access to your apartment on multiple occasions, and there were times when our contractors were unable to complete testing or verify repairs because access could not be obtained. Throughout the process, we met with you personally on several occasions, remained in regular communication, and offered compensation while repairs were underway. While we understand your disappointment, we respectfully disagree with the characterization that the issue was not treated as a priority. We sincerely wish you all the best in your new home.
