I will not recommend The Roost at 1051 Southern Drive. My biggest issue is the leasing process. The lease looks straightforward until you sign. Then you discover terms with serious consequences lurking around your every move and getting out comes with costly penalties.
The problems don’t end there. The beds are rickety and shaky, making a good night’s sleep nearly impossible. The window blinds are old, torn, and never replaced. Pest control seems to happen only before move-in and is not ...

I've lived at The Roost for two years now, and a lot has happened... just never to me personally. I've witnessed a shooting, a SWAT standoff with tear gas, and my downstairs neighbors' windows being smashed, only to watch maintenance take over three months to replace them. Despite all that, I've never been a victim of crime here. Rent is cheap for the amount of space you get, security has improved, and the area is much quieter than it used to be. Management is a revolving door, maintenance is ...
slow, and there's clearly dysfunction behind the scenes. Would I recommend it? Probably not. But if your top priority is maximizing space while minimizing rent, and you're willing to accept the trade-offs, it's honestly not a terrible option. If I made more money, I'd move tomorrow, but for now, it works.

I’ve had a much better experience since moving into a different unit. The transfer made a huge difference, and I’m much happier with my apartment now. The staff was helpful throughout the process and answered my questions when I needed assistance. Maintenance has also been responsive whenever I’ve submitted a request, and issues have been handled in a timely manner. My resident experience has been fraught. The pool is constantly closed when it should be open, and was closed for at least two months last summer. My refrigerator died twice in less than a month and I lost over $250 worth of food only to receive a $50 rent credit. When I contacted management about it, I was told to send them as much documentation as I had to prove my expenditure. When I did, I was ignored. The gym machines are constantly broken, the gates are never closed, but hey, at least *my* ...
