January 13, 2025Review of The Scenic at River East I strongly advise potential renters to steer clear of The Scenic at River East, managed by Greystar. My experience living here has been nothing short of a disaster, marked by continuous maintenance issues, rude staff, and hidden fees that they use to unfairly gouge tenants upon move-out. The nightmare began when my shower started leaking in February, causing severe water damage to the baseboards. I reported the issue numerous times, and despite multiple failed ...attempts to fix it—replacing baseboards, resealing the shower, and installing blockers—the leak persisted for months. Mold became a concern, but my pleas to management went largely ignored. In one particularly frustrating instance, I was forced to leave my apartment with my dog for an entire weekend while they attempted to fix the shower by resealing the pan. After vacating my home for 48 hours, as instructed, I returned to find the problem completely unresolved. No functional shower and no real solution in sight, despite all the inconvenience. Even when a plumber finally discovered the real issue—a crack under the shower pan—the repair process dragged on for weeks, leaving me without a usable shower for an extended period of time. I had to physically go to the office to get keys to a temporary unit, as management refused to answer my calls or emails promptly. I was left with a loud humidifier in my bathroom to be left running for a week. The lack of communication and disregard for my basic living needs was appalling. To make matters worse, when I moved out, they charged me for carpet damage caused by their own water leaks and used my pet addendum to stick me with hidden cleaning fees that were not made clear in the lease. These fees felt like nothing more than a money grab, especially considering the poor condition they left my apartment in. The Greystar staff, were rude and unprofessional, with no accountability for the continued problems in my unit. Paula even had the nerve to accuse me of not following maintenance instructions properly, which was both untrue and infuriating. If you’re considering living here, I highly recommend you think twice. Between the constant maintenance problems, the unprofessional staff, and the hidden fees, this place has been a nightmare. Save yourself the hassle and find a better-managed property.Property Manager Responded

AVOID Moving to the Scenic at River East
December 1, 2023I left the Scenic after three years for numerous reasons, not the least of which was the new management. This my opinion. The pool might be nice to see but more and more often thugs, invited or not, would come to the pool, drink beer out of glass bottles and start fights. Security does nothing. Many dogs run around off leash and may endanger other animals. That’s city code. And, dog poop is often left. The security gates here break often. One of my friends visited early one morning and his car ...was towed away in 2 hours ($300). In addition, because the gates were broken thieves broke in my garage and stole two bikes valued at over $5,000. Of course no security footage to get their license plates. Other potentially very serious life safety issues with this place (ie live fire cooking next to the building), but I’ll let the city take care of that… The management is too busy worrying about the tenant trash policy than the life safety issues above. You get numerous emails a month with threats of fines for putting trash out too early or leaving the little plastic trash container they issue out after the designated shot time period to retrieve it. And, forget about trash service on Fridays and Saturdays..when you’re most likely to clean the place or have friends for dinner. The place appears to be a money grab after the The rent and fees in my opinion are excessive. They charge extra fees for everything…trash, package delivery, online rent payments, community utilities, etc. Your actual rent is not what is quoted. My final straw was when I found a black furry moist substance growing above the shower and out of the bath ac vent. So I had it tested at a lab and they concluded 5 types of mold. My age allergies are far better sine I moved out at the end of this October. I didn’t even stay the last month and a half of my lease. As for move out charges, they are also a money grab in my opinion. The Scenic charged me over $1,200 for items such as: heavy cleaning (I paid to have it cleaned and took pictures), minor picture hanging holes, all new paint, full carpet replacement in bed room because of dog odor(my dog never had an accident and preferred the couch at night) and over $400 for unknown ‘utility’ charges that was never explained. All of these items ‘ARE NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR!’ Especially, if you’ve lived there for three whole years paying their excessive rent and fees. I can afford it but it’s the principle that matters to me.Property Manager Responded
