STAY AWAY
February 17, 2023I have lived here thru 4 different owners and you do not want to live here. It’s overpriced in a bad area for crime and just had an apartment shooting. The units have slapped on paint hope it’s not a lead one they repaint over, the cheapest carpet possible and antique appliances. The property is not kept well and has rodents and horrible flies and pests. All the bushes and trees are dying and the pool is a joke, it’s round and shallow, it’s more a cold “hot” tub than pool, There is no security ...to speak of and car thefts and breaking car windows in summer is high. Don't Waste Your Time
March 17, 2021The other reviews of this place are extremely outdated, from when the property was under different ownership/management and called another name. This complex is poorly maintained, dirty, loud, and dangerous. The front gate was broken and open for about 50% of my 6-month lease, so there was no security. My neighbors were constantly fighting and the police showed up at least once in the middle of the night. I realize this is out of the control of apartment management but it was ...bothersome. Previous tenants left fleas in my apartment, which management said I "brought with me" (I have no pets). They tried to charge me more than $100 to treat the fleas, believing I had pets. My boyfriend and I vacuumed the carpet probably 12 times while we lived there and it picked up a disgusting amount of dust and ash. The shower was filthy and I had to unclog it from the previous tenants. There's no way the apartment was cleaned in any significant fashion before I moved in. My non-smoking unit in the non-smoking complex constantly smelled like paint and cigarettes, which wafted over through the vents from the next-door neighbors. When I first moved in, I also had to get my mailbox lock fixed before someone could steal my mail (who knows how long it was broken). Charmingly average
July 30, 2015The location is fantastic. You can wake up every morning and go across the street for a walk along the river. And every evening the sun sets over Turkey mountain park just across the river. But in the apartment themselves, while the staff are friendly and helpful, the facilities are wanting. The washers and dryers are constantly broken. If you're lucky there will be one or two working when you need to wash your clothes. The gate doesn't do anything for security because it is simple to follow ...another driver in, or you can just walk in. And yet they somehow expect you not to have your own protection, as there are "No Weapons" signs everywhere. The air-conditioner is excellent, however. Thanks Sand Dollar
August 23, 2015This is a great complex too close to a bad area. This often gives people a bad opinion of it. However I have found it to be a clean well run apartment complex whose staff is friendly, concerned and easy to talk to. I must admit that wasn't always so, but since they got new management and maintainence crews that has changed dramatically. Work orders are taken care of rapidly and correctly and office staff are professional, friendly, and concerned. I really like living here and would ...recommend it to anyone. The only thing I don't like about living here is the canada geese who come over from the river. They have fouled the pond in the middle of the complex and it looks gross. On the positive side, I have found it to be quiet here. It does have security on site. Show Me the Sand Dollars
July 21, 2015I have had a great experience here at Sand Dollar. I'm single man living alone. My place is small, but I have plenty of room, a washer and dryer in my unit and believe me, the price is right. I can say it's a great value for me. I can never - I mean NEVER - hear my neighbors, and I live in the middle of a building that's full. I never hear anything. I see people all over the place, and never have had a problem. To be sure, it's not a luxury building. But there is no noise, no bugs, good ...neighbors and a great staff who have given me nothing but great service despite my whining about small things. Everything in my apartment works. I have new countertops, new dishwasher, new carpet. All my appliances are in good or new condition. All the lights work. I have nothing to complain about. I can pay my rent online, which is important to me since I travel quite a bit. I can have it automatically deducted from my bank account, which I do. Any time I have contacted maintenance, they have reacted quickly and professionally. I even get a wave from them as I drive in or out. Great people. Now, as far as drawbacks, there are a few, but they're small. The floor tiles could be much better. The carpet is great - it's new. But the tiles in the kitchen and bath are old and splotched with old paint. The pool is small, if that matters to you. It doesn't to me, but I could literally jump across it. I love the river and the park across the street. The running track and the close proximity to downtown and highways.
