August 28, 2025I received a lease violation at The Willows at Ventura with five accusations against me. Only one of them was true — yet the violation that triggered it was a false claim that my dog urinated off my balcony. In reality, what they saw was condensation runoff. In fact, Carlos even showed me the photo from the complaining neighbor, and it clearly showed condensation droplets — darker only because of dirt runoff. This is not pet waste, and I have documented that other balconies across the property ...show the exact same runoff patterns. When I went in to discuss this, Carlos was the first to assist me. He wasn’t very helpful in resolving anything, but at least he wasn’t disrespectful. Then Joshua, the property manager, jumped in — and the experience quickly turned hostile. While I was sitting in front of him, Joshua was dismissive, ignored me to my face, and spoke in a rude, condescending manner. Instead of acknowledging the condensation evidence, he repeatedly pressed me with irrelevant questions like “Has your dog ever peed on the balcony?” Then he tried to threaten me by claiming they had pictures and videos of other “incidents,” but when I asked to see them, he refused. It was an obvious bluff meant to intimidate rather than resolve the matter. This is not the conduct of professional management. It’s hostile, dishonest, and shows zero respect for residents paying thousands of dollars each month. For prospective tenants: beyond the way management mistreats residents, be aware that directly behind the church next to the property is a large homeless encampment in the neighboring parking lot. These are your actual “neighbors” to what is marketed as Luxury Resort-Style Apartments.
