I lived at Vista Heights during my last year spent studying at Truman State University. The experience was awful for the following reasons:
1) An 'exterminator' came by unannounced 3 times over the course of a year. He sprayed unknown chemicals over the apartment and my only clue that he had even been there was a creepy note left on my bathroom mirror. My main concerns about this were 1) The health of my pet and 2) My safety and privacy.
2) Vista Heights repeatedly charged me late fees on
...checks that had already cleared my account, even before the due date.
3) I was moved into an apartment that was disgustingly dirty (i.e. sticky cabinets, moldy smell, crumbs and debris in the kitchen area). After I had moved away, I was charged for invisible carpet damage in a strongly worded letter threatening legal action against me.
4) Staff was extremely uncooperative about the above issues. A few days prior to the end of my lease, a man in a white truck, whom I had never met before, drove by me and yelled, "When are y'all leaving?" I had never met this man before and he worked for Vista Heights
All of these issues were made worse by the fact that I was as student and worked at the time of renting. I did not have time to be fussing with unprofessional staff and fighting with them. They know this and its why they feel comfortable making your experience as miserable as possible. If you are a student, stay away from these place. It is not worth your time and could be a distraction to your studies.
