Walnut Knoll is exactly what my wife and I were looking for as she attended the optometry program at Ferris. It's a short walk to campus and has easy access to most of town, it is generally very quiet, and the apartments have modern appliances and are well laid-out.
The landlords are very accommodating and easy to work with. When issues came up they were typically addressed that day or very quickly afterwards. If we had to go back and do it again, I would absolutely rent here again.

I’ve lived in Big Rapids for nearly 5 years (for graduate school), and in Walnut Knoll apartments for my final year and it has genuinely been an amazing experience. I can tell you from my wisdom that it can be a nightmare trying to find an affordable apartment that also isn’t too noisy. My neighbors were very respectful, and the owners even more so. The owners knew me on a first-name basis, and were incredibly flexible for the move-in process. To my knowledge, all the bathrooms have been ...
remodeled which is a huge plus too. Again, I cannot stress how amazing it is to have heat and internet bundled in your monthly rent as well. Overall great apartment. Older building, but they do a great job keeping up on all of the necessary renovations. Landlords and owners are excellent. It is a smaller building, so much more of a personal feel. One, two, and three bedroom apartments available for reasonable prices in a college town. Walnut Knoll is pretty great!
