Avoid renting here
December 28, 2021I've been renting at Watercrest for a little over a year now and I'm counting down the days until the lease is up. Top Complaints: Mail theft. Mailboxes were broken into and packages are constantly stolen. The mail theft is so bad that the USPS has refused service to all 46 units in Building A. I have to go pick up my mail at the Post Office, which is extremely inconvenient. The apartment management's advice is to get Amazon packages routed to a locker and continue picking up mail from the Post ...Office. Management could not give me next steps on how they were trying to improve the situation. This building has no security, residential background checks are nonexistent, or both. Attempted truck theft. Someone broke into my spouse's truck, stole a lot of small items plus tried to jam something into the ignition (didn't work) and pulled a panel below the steering wheel and fiddled with the wires (also didn't work). We had to pay $1,000 to get everything fixed and repaired. Management was notified and did absolutely nothing. Constant laundry issues. About half of the time I wash and dry my clothes, I have "extras" that someone has snuck into my laundry. I thoroughly check the washer and dryer before I put my clothes in and I've never caught someone messing with my clothes. My spouse and I have also had gross residue on our clothes after using the washer/dryer - like gum/oil or something was left in the unit. Also, machines are out of service sometimes without a note, so you pay the $2 but don't get to use the machine. Shoddy appliances. During the first 2 months of living in this apartment, I had my stove replaced with a stove from a different unit TWICE. Maintenance was nice, but outdated appliances need replaced instead of shuffled around. Other issues that haven't directly impacted me: I've seen three dead rats outside of the building that take more than two days for maintenance to clean up. There's a trash can next to one of the gates that is constantly overflowing. This week there was snow and ice and management put a bucket of salt out and told us to salt the walkways ourselves. I've noticed at least 3 units flood bad enough that water goes into the hallway. I'm fortunate that this hasn't happened to our unit, but it seems like it must be a matter of time. The mail was the tipping point. Management is doing zero and if you HAVE to live here, avoid building A like the plague.Property Manager Responded
January 5, 2022Hello, Thank you for your feedback. We have been in ongoing communication with USPS to determine what is needed for mail to be rerouted to the community. We have also updated the building on this. Some comments in this review have not been reported to the management team. Please be sure to reach out to us if you see something that needs our attention. As for the recent snowstorm, our maintenance team came to work on their day off to shovel for our community, along with leaving extra ice. We are very apologetic your experience has not been more positive. We hope to change this moving forward. Please continue to let us know how we can do better.

Move out charges is totally made up
July 9, 2021We were charged for things that we had bought new, repaired and cleaned. They even claim that their team members were bitten by fleas when in fact, we have never encountered fleas my whole life living at watercrest or anywhere else!!Property Manager Responded

Great place to live
January 5, 2021My roommate and I have lived here for about a year now, and we love it. The price is not bad, covered parking isn't too expensive (get one while you can), the apartments are such a nice size compared to most places in WA, and in general the layout is great and very cozy. Alyssa, Nicholas (who has moved to another property), Andrea, and the maintenance team are GREAT! We've had a few minor issues (i.e. the sliding screen door falling off its track, the laundry door knob loosening, etc.) the team ...has been so great at communicating and fixing problems in a timely manner. We've only had one major issue however, the team was quick to assist us and very helpful with taking care us of and solving the issue. Despite COVID restrictions and not being able to workout or use the pool last summer (obviously not their fault lol) I would recommend this property to anyone and everyone looking to move to the Lake Forest Park area. If you've come this far in my review, hopefully this helps with your decision on where to move. Thank you Watercrest team, we are happy to call this place home.Property Manager Responded

Gets worse every year
June 29, 2020No matter what they tell you, parking is a nightmare if you don't pay for a spot. In my building, the hallways always smell like mold/mildew, since I have developed lung problems, I often worry about the amount of mold in the building. The rent increases by a large amount every year, while the services provided decreases. The water bill will occasionally double in amount with no explanation. We found mouse droppings in the outdoor grill, which is not appetizing. This place is definitely not worth ...the money as far as I'm concerned. I finally couldn't take it anymore and had to move. I do not recommend.Property Manager Responded

Decent sized apartments-questionable charges when moving out
June 20, 2019Sadly I am writing a mixed review of my 19 months at Watercrest. They were great as far as giving me a good deal to move in, and the initial deposit and move in costs were lower than most. I never had any significant issues in my time there, other than occasional reserved parking problems which were handled by management in a reasonable time frame. (There is inadequate unreserved parking so be prepared to pay for a reserved spot if you want to make sure you have a spot in the lot) Likewise ...the process of moving out was relatively easy, however, I was not impressed with the "move out charges" that I was assessed against my security deposit. I left the apartment much cleaner than when I moved in, however, it was deemed necessary to charge me a cleaning fee of $75, a carpet cleaning fee of $60 (even though my very last act before returning the keys was to rent a carpet cleaning machine and clean the carpets in the entire apartment), as well as a$50 painting fee, despite the fact I made sure to use wall hangers that did not damage the paint. As I said, my time there was uneventful and my apartment was a decent size for the money. Just be prepared for some questionable fees when moving on.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
