Atlanta apartment-ites know there are so many different options for a dinner in town, but what do you do if you want an affordable, delicious breakfast? While you could always go to some big-name corporate hang-out, but why stop into a Starbucks or Denny's when you could take in an Austin original. The Flying Biscuit has been serving hungry breakfast lovers in Atlanta for over a decade, and have received glowing recommendations from Elle, Bon Apetit and even the New York Times. Atlantans just can't keep out of this midtown café, and it's not hard to see why. Popularity can only get you so far, and all the best recognition won't do the job of a delicious plate of pancakes. We can thank our lucky stars, then, that the Flying Biscuit has the ability to put its money where its mouth is, serving up the best breakfast fare in the big A. The Flying Biscuit accomplishes, with gusto, a task that would send most other breakfast joints out the door, quaking in the boots. They make delicious, filling morning meals that are also healthy. Whether it's their chicken sausage, their turkey bacon, or even their scrambled tofu, healthy is the buzzword, and it's what has kept people lining up around the block to get in. Taking healthy but delicious to a whole new level are their organic oatmeal pancakes, topped with warm peach compote and pure maple syrup, which served with many of the farm-fresh egg deals. Another stand out is their whole-wheat French toast, thick-sliced and served with raspberry sauce and creme Anglaise. Of course, what people most enjoy in this morning Mecca are the egg dishes, which range from the normal eggs and bacon, to a variety of different scrambles, such as the Hollywood scramble, with spinach, mushrooms and mozzarella, the south scramble, with turkey bacon, collard greens and onions, and the salmon scramble, with smoked salmon and dill cream, as well as omeletes, wraps, and even a steak and eggs meal. If you've woken up too late for breakfast, or are just not in a breakfast mood, never you fear, there's still a varied range of delicious lunch and dinner options, many just as healthy as their breakfasts. One of their most famous lunch dishes is their Turkey Meatloaf with Pudge (mashed potatoes with basil and sun-dried tomatoes), which they serve thick and juicy, with their delectable horseradish cream sauce. Other healthy options include the vegan BBQ burrito, with barbecued tofu, collard greens and mushrooms in a sun-dried tomato tortilla, tofu n- tater salad, or their famous love cakes, made with blackbean and cornmeal, topped with tomatillo salsa, sour cream, feta cheese and red onion. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so shouldn't you grab yours at a place that does it just right? The Flying Biscuit is quickly becoming an Atlanta institution, and apartment residents owe it themselves to give the place a visit.
