Before you leave your Baltimore apartment for dinner at Ixia, make sure you have reservations for this bold yet classy New American food restaurant. Described as one of Baltimore's most beautiful restaurants, Ixia serves some incredible food in an atmosphere that makes you feel desirable. The restaurant, bar and lounge, founded in 2001 by restaurateur Ms. Un Kim, has an interior composed by designer David Briskie, with deep blue wall color, gorgeous beaded drapes and dramatic chandeliers. White leather seating and white enameled tables finish off the look with chic and style in the restaurant. Ixia's dramatic forty foot black granite bar separates the dining room from the lounge, a great place to enjoy a drink before dinner or an after dinner drink and dessert. The beauty of the restaurant is reflected in the food as well. You'll start with a small plate - Maitake mushroom ravioli or lobster and crab mac 'n' cheese. The delectable entrees are tough to choose from but a sampling of what's there is crispy skin Scottish salmon, with fava bean mousseline, creamed morel mushrooms, tender greens plus lemon vinaigrette. Prime filet mignon, Ixia crab cakes, pan roasted diver sea scallops and the tempura soft shell crab are all presented with flair and splendor. Executive chef Kevin Miller sees to that for Baltimore apartment-ites. Save room for an exquisite dessert or a delicious martini. The Chocolate Flight is a warm mud cake with chocolate malt marshmallow and Mexican chocolate flan, or try the lighter green tea crème brulee, served with spiced ginger cake and lime sorbet. If a martini is calling, before or after dinner, the Pink Panther is a pretty tasty treat with lime vodka, strawberry liquer, triple sec, Sprite and lime juice. For a quick wake up, enjoy the Wide Eye - vodka, expresso, Bailey's and Kahlua. Hours for Ixia are Tuesday through Thursday, 5 pm to the last seating at 9:30 pm, and Friday and Saturday, same opening time with last seating at 10:30 pm. The restaurant and bar is closed on Sundays and Mondays, time to rest in your Baltimore apartment.
