There are numerous places in Detroit to get a steak, but many apartment-ites are tired of all the masculine, cow-head on the wall steakhouses scattered around town, so are looking for something with a bit more class and taste. Your search is over, apartment residents, because at Big Rock Chop House you can combine the delectable taste of the city's best steaks with the gorgeous ambiance of an upscale bistro. With modern accents scattered through out, smooth jazz gently wafting through the air, and white linen tablecloths and candlelight awaiting each patron, the only thing more calming and surprising than the ambiance is the delicious food. Atmosphere can only get you so far, however, and at the end of the day, you're a steakhouse, and it all comes down to delicious food. You can start things off with any number of delicious appetizers, including sesame chicken, Cajun steak bites, calamari, spicy chorizo and bacon fritters, tempura fried shrimp with stir fry bok choy and ponzu, or their onion and ale soup with Swiss cheese or mushroom bisque with garlic bagel chips. Another healthy option is one of their hearty salads, including the Bounty, with apples, walnuts, cherries, and strawberries, the Asian, with Napa, red, and green cabbage, carrots and Won Ton with ginger mustard dressing, or their beefsteak tomato salad, with sweet onion, bleu cheese and arugula. Of course, the main draw of this place is the steaks, and they're all some of the best you can find anywhere in town. All steaks are hand-cut and aged, and then perfectly cooked to order. Any cut of steak you want is available, from the smaller filet, to the New York strip, to their jumbo bone-in rib-eye, to their huge 24-ounce porterhouse. Their house specialty, however, is their succulent 14-ounce bone-in filet mignon, served with sauteed Swiss chard and white cheddar-roasted garlic mashed potatoes. If steak is not your thing, no big deal, they've still got you covered, with a menagerie of meats from veal, to chicken, to lamb, to pork, to duck, even buffalo and ostrich. If you're into seafood, they have a number of fish options are well for your dining needs. Steakhouses are a dime a dozen in Detroit, but apartment-ites tired of the usual manly fanfare need to take a trip down to Big Rock Chophouse, where delicious steaks meet upscale atmosphere for one of the top experiences you can have in the Motor City.
