Tired of the stuffy, too-cool-for-school nightclubs your roommate is constantly dragging you to? Eager for a bit of down-and-dirty raucous fun, a place where the only person less concerned with appearances and political correctness than your date is the staff? Dick's Last Resort might just be your Shangri-la. Laid back is too tame a term for the full Dick's experience, which might be why it continues to be such a hit with tourists. Your most garish Hawaiian shirt is the traditional attire, although whatever you happen to have on is fine by the hilariously aloof serving staff. Off-color remarks and borderline-rude comments are Dick's stock and trade, but bear in mind that all are delivered with tongue firmly in cheek. At Dick's they are laughing with you, never at you. While the atmosphere may be carefree and wild, the food is certainly no joke. The Southern-leaning offerings are heavy on the seafood and barbecue end of things, with king crab legs, honey roasted chicken and sauce-drenched spare ribs dominating the menu. Drinks, in keeping with the attire, are fittingly tropical. Mudslides, pineapple run drinks and spiked coconut smoothies are the recommended libations of choice, although a selection of typical beer and cocktails are available as well. Regardless of your choice, don't be surprised if you find yourself slamming down your drink to join a spontaneous conga line.
