Living up North can really make you hungry for some real, authentic Southern food, but many apartment-ites also like the classy feel of upscale dining, which can lead to a bit of dilemma. One place serving up real Southern style food, while still keeping the stylish feel of an higher-tier restaurant is Sweet Georgia Brown. The atmosphere is classy, but still warm and inviting, a hard combination to pull of well, but Sweet Georgia Brown does it just right, with enough style to make you feel like a star, with enough of the homey feel so that the experience isn't too intimidating. Of course, the only thing more comfortable than the environment, is the food. To start your meal, you could have your choice of chili lime chicken crispers with pico and avocado aioli, lobster and mixed pepper quesadilla with queso fresco, Southern crab cake with Cajun red remoulade, or shrimp cocktail stuffed with crab and served with avocado puree and yellow tomato compote, or you could try their chicken and seafood gumbo with fried okra and crawfish garnish, or their soup of the day. You could also try one of their delicious salads. Moving on to the main course, you can try beef with smoked Gouda Dauphinoise potatoes, sauteed spinach in tomato, artichoke hearts and mushroom Bordelaise, fried pork cutlets with wild mushrooms and crab, buttermilk potatoes, spinach in tomato with baby carrots, fried lobster tails with whipped potatoes, tomatoes with corn and leeks, steamed asparagus and Cajun red remoulade, or even vegetarian strudel with couscous, mixed garden veggies, sauteed spinach and a tomato coulis. Just make sure to save room for their scrumptious Georgia peach cobbler with peach ice cream, "Big Mama" chocolate cake, or some vanilla bean creme brulee.
