Colonial Village is on the outskirts of Knoxville, southeast of downtown. Highway 441 runs through the neighborhood, connecting residents to downtown to the north and the mountains to the southeast. The neighborhood has a welcoming atmosphere that draws people to it. You are close to the country but still have access to all of the amenities of the big city.

One of the oldest parts of downtown Knoxville, Old City has several original buildings that are beautiful and full of character. Affordable rentals are in abundance and within walking distance of many downtown attractions. Old City is one of my favorite neighborhoods.

A Brief History of Knoxville
Founded by James White in 1791, Knoxville became Tennessee's first state capital in 1796. The city was named after Henry Knox, who was the Secretary of War at that time. It was a prominent frontier hub, connecting the East Coast with the unsettled lands to the west.
Knoxville began to draw in many types of industries, allowing for increased growth throughout the 1800s. Music was also vital to the area and Knoxville eventually earned the nickname “the cradle of country music”.
Knoxville also has a rich history when it comes to the Civil War. The Union was successful in defeating the Confederate soldiers in 1863 at the Battle of Fort Sanders. The city's frontier history is showcased by many historic markers throughout the area.
The Tennessee Valley Authority and several other government agencies are also located in Knoxville. Many of the country's energy programs are developed there. Employment opportunities and economic growth are key factors.

Navigating Knoxville
I-75 and I-40 intersect in downtown Knoxville. I-75 runs north and south, while I-40 goes east and west. I-140 and highways 411 and 321 also run through the area. There are multiple interchanges in the area that make it possible to go from neighborhood to neighborhood in just a few minutes. I-75 is a major corridor for many tourists traveling to and from Florida. With so many major highways and streets, it's easy to navigate the city.
