Fine dining in Phoenix can be an interesting experience in Phoenix, with so many options for your nightly needs, but sometimes the stuffy atmosphere can be a bit much for some apartment residents. When you're feeling tired of so much modern furniture and intimidating atmosphere, stop in at Tarbell's, where the atmosphere may be casual, but the food is anything but. It's the best place to find a first-class mile while taking it easy without the suit and tie. When you walk into Tarbell's, you'll feel the difference between it and so many other upscale restaurants. Instead of the dark black interiors and modern furniture, they use lighter woods and furniture made for comfort than for their unique look. Wide windows let in the sunlight by the day, and the beautiful Phoenix skyline by night, and the long bar is perfectly inviting for those wanting to enjoy a friendly, casual drink. After enjoying the casual, neighborhood atmosphere of the restaurant, the high-scale menu can be a shock. Appetizers like organic mushrooms with goat-cheese on house-made puff pastry and steamed mussels with white wine, organic herbs and shallots, an organic field greens with over-roasted apples, goat cheese and golden beats is not what you would expect to find in such a place, and that's only the beginning of the meal. When you move on to the main courses, things get even more surprising. Some of the fantastic entree options include grilled Scottish salmon on a crispy potato cake with a molasses-lime glaze, pan-seared scallops with wild tomato risotto and tomato relish, double-cut pork chop with white cheddar polenta cake, creamed corn, and spinach, and Tar's Scotch beef with roasted baby red potatoes, pearl onions and organic carrots. They also have a number of pasta options, made right in house, including chive-Ricotta ravioli with English pea sauce and chanterelle mushrooms and tagliatelle with chicken fennel sausage, English peas, tomato and shaved Parmesan, or you could try one of their oven-baked pizzas. The options for alcohol is huge here, so you can take some time to look through the large wine list, including organic wines of most colors, and any varietal you could want, from Shiraz to Zinfadel, and even has a great selection of dessert wines. If wine's not your speed, you can try one of their fine brandies, sherries, or even beer. They also have a number of well-put-together cocktails for those so inclined, including a number of fun martinis, including the Black Apple Martini, Tangelo-tini, and Ruby Red Martini. Aparment residents looking for high-class cuisine without the snooty atmosphere, make your way down to Tarbell's, one of the Phoenix's favorite fine dining spots, with delicious food, refreshing drinks, and a casual atmosphere that won't intimidate patrons.
