You never know for sure until you try. Find some places you really like and apply. Remember to be honest about your lack of good credit and ask the manager what types of things you could do to help your chances. Some communities may be able to help if you pay a higher deposit or several months in advance. It all depends on the community itself. Remember, they want to rent places out, so they are more likely to try and find ways to help you get into an apartment rather than turn you away

It's tough with big animals. The best thing to do is look for a number of apartments within your city of choice and give each a call and explain your situation. Offer to have an introduction of your pet to the manager, so that they can see it's temperament, etc.

I have a bankruptcy on my credit report. But my current landlord said he'd give me an "excellent reference" and that I'm a "perfect tenant." Which will matter more to a prospective landlord?

It's great to have a reference from another landlord, especially if it is at a well known management company's community and you were there for a long time. Many people have issues from their past that can effect their rental applications. There is pretty much no way around that. Rental requirements will vary from community to community so it's best to contact communities that you are interested and ask them if they'd accept you given your bankruptcy history.

I'm planning to move to Round Rock Tx on August. I already found a great place for living, but I don't know how much do landlords take to process your application.
How much time do apartment rent offices take to process an application?.
Thanks.

It can vary depending on the managers of the community. The best thing to do is contact them directly and follow up. Don't be afraid to ask about the time frame and when you could expect to know. Best of luck!

Visit that site to find information on the community and shoot them an email or give them a call to see if they may have pictures for you to view. Unfortunately, they have not provided us with pictures to display for them.

Many communities actually may offer military discounts. This is something to look into when searching for your apartment for rent. Income restriction qualifications can vary among communities, so it would be best to ask your community directly about this.

First you will need to live in a community that allows you to pay your rent online. If so, then you will need to contact them to find out where and how to pay the bill online. Many communities will have a website where you simply pay there, but you will need a credit card or bank account check card to pay.

Sonti- I suggest calling a few communities and seeing what their requirements are. Many communities realize that people will have to be getting an apartment with no rental background. It may require a larger deposit, proof of income and/or paying first and last month's rent, but they may work with you. The only way to know for sure is to ask. Having a co-signer with an established rental history would of course make things easier, but I bet you'll be find. Best of luck!
