Georgetown on the River
September 16, 2015About a 15 minute drive to the cities, Georgetown on the River offers excellent quality without the big city price. I have been here for a year now, I live in the 5820 building on the 3rd level. Positives- Location: Right off the highway and very close to multiple shopping centers. Also right off the Mississippi biking trail Price: With heating and water included you can get the most out of your payments. Improvements: New owners have been spending the last few months installing and ...repairing a lot of things. My personal favorite, brand new washing machines that take card! Recreation: 2 outdoor pools and 1 indoor pool (9 feet deep), usually the kids have it to themselves, but I've found if its a hot morning i can get a dip in before they're up. They also have a workout room with 2 treadmills, a bike, a few machines, and a back room. Privacy: The walls are very thick and unless your neighbors are yelling, I've never heard any TV or conversation from either side. However, the hallway walls are significantly thinner. Landscaping: They have an amazing landscaping team who does a wonderful job keeping the grounds looking excellent, and your about 40 yards off the Mississippi. Negatives: Parking: If you want a parking garage you'll have to share with one other, and its a hefty $50 a month. Not worth it at all. Parking can be tough at times but there will always be a spot. Also, they will do snow plowing on set days and will tow your car so keep aware on plow/sweeper days. Building Age: While they do their best the buildings are quite old. Usually you don't even notice but you'll get some piping problems every now and then. Maintenance is usually good and fast though. Neighborhood: While Georgetown is not a bad neighborhood your not too far away from some shady places. I've never had any problems with it, and Fridley police are regularly stopping by.
