The Kensington
October 6, 2015My husband and I can't afford an LA apartment that's 5 stars and our building JUST makes 4 stars, but only because we're incredibly picky and don't want to sugarcoat it. We knew at 1st sight that this apartment was perfect for us. Unless we find an apt with all of our specific wants, we've no intention of moving in the near or foreseeable future. We have 2 bedrooms, a gas fireplace, central AC/Heat, a balcony and tons of cabinet and closet space. Parking outside is awesome for dinners and ...parties. The neighborhood is quiet, safe, filled with kind, friendly people and great for walking our dog. A DOG FRIENDLY building, means lots of nice residents to meet and chat with on our walks. There's SECURE PARKING with tandem spots and ONSITE LAUNDRY. The location is close to the 101 between the Coldwater and Laurel Canyon exits. It is also close to the 170, giving us options to avoid traffic. Ralph's, Walgreens, Trader Joe's, Petco, Bed Bath & Beyond and Whole Foods are all within a short drive or bike ride. Also, the Chandler Bike Path and Orange Line Bike path leading to Lake Balboa are both easy to get to and a great ride. The building itself is under new management since we moved in almost a year ago, which means things ACTUALLY GET FIXED in a timely manor. Which is a huge plus! Our manager is no-nonsense and wants the tenants to be happy and appreciates being told when things are broken or there's an issue. On the downside, the windows and sliding door to the balcony are old, not double glazed for sound proofing, rickety and don't close nicely. The building itself is actually crooked when you look at the ceiling you'll see it's clearly at a slant. The walls shake when neighbor's front doors are slammed shaking the hanging pictures. Floors are connected and vibrate if your neighbor walks too heavily. There is also LADWP construction outside and it's moving down the street toward our building. It will probably be an issue for the next year at least (estimated finish Sept 2016). There is a pool that is newly retiled, but small and hidden behind the building giving it a sketchy feeling and less than welcoming vibe. We also get crickets in the bathroom even after the exterminator has come twice. Overall, the good outweighs the bad. Highly recommend taking a look.Leer MásReseña de Apartments.com
