Dangerous, Disorganized, and Unprofessional
May 9, 2025Living at Legacy at Crystal Lake has been one of the most frustrating experiences I’ve had with any apartment. The management is completely incompetent and clearly has no understanding of their own leasing software. Every interaction feels like a guessing game, and they regularly provide conflicting or inaccurate information about payments, lease terms, and maintenance requests. Maintenance is no better, this place is a textbook landlord special. Repairs are done as cheaply and quickly as ...possible, often with visible shortcuts. Don’t expect lasting fixes or quality work; you’ll get duct tape solutions to long-term problems. We were also told our A/C filter would be replaced, but no one ever came. The filter became so clogged that it eventually pulled out of its track, restricting airflow and putting strain on the system. Communication from the head office is atrocious. A recent incident highlights this perfectly: they scheduled pressure washing for the curbs and breezeways and put out signs requiring certain spots to be cleared by 8 a.m., but only did this for half the affected spaces the day before. The next morning, they added new signs in areas where residents had already parked, thinking they were safe. Then, without warning, they towed vehicles from those spots. Many residents had no idea this was happening and were forced to pay out of pocket to retrieve their cars. If management had communicated like any professionally run property should, these tows, and the expense for those who were towed, could have easily been avoided. Worse still are the fire safety issues. Our dryer vent has never been cleaned, and as a result, it takes 2–3 cycles to fully dry clothes. That’s not only an inconvenience, it’s a fire hazard. On top of that, our fire extinguisher expired just one month into our lease. We informed the office and were told it would be replaced, but it never was. Even after they entered our apartment for the annual fire code inspection and recognized the expired extinguisher, they still did not come to replace it. This is not just negligence, it’s a direct violation of tenant safety. Finally, our fire alarm was painted over. Not just the wall around it, the alarm, including the front face where it clearly says “Do Not Paint”. This isn’t just lazy, it’s a serious violation of fire code and could stop functionality in an emergency. Legacy at Crystal Lake is a masterclass in how not to run an apartment community. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.Property Manager Responded

Please know that we made multiple efforts to inform all residents ahead of time, including advance notices via email, door postings, and clearly visible signage around the property. Unfortunately, your vehicle was not moved despite these notifications, which limited our ability to complete the work in that area fully. We always strive to provide the highest level of service while minimizing inconvenience to our residents. Clear communication and cooperation are key to successful community-wide projects, and we truly appreciate your understanding in situations like this. Regarding your A/C filter, we complete bi annual filter changes. Residents are encouraged to replace the filters monthly. You are able to pick one up at the office or if you are unable to do so, you are welcome to place a work order and a member of the service team is happy to ...take care of it for you. Roaches in units
November 30, 2023Instead of getting rid of the source of infestation, they are blaming residents. I can't eat, I can't sleep because those roaches are huges, they're everywhere now and ruining everything I have. I've been having nausea and feeling sick since I first found them in the fridge. I'm so anxious and worried that everytime I open a door or the fridge, there'll be roaches roaming around. I'm so ashamed can't even invite friends or family over. Top Quality Apartments
March 23, 2022At current market rates. They compete well. They have some of the lower end of rent compared to the area. Maintenance is great, efficient. Building structure is wonderful. Seems a lot sturdier than the other complex’s around us. I love the safety. I always feel safe here, never worry to much about problems. Pressure washing, safety inspections. I know people mag find those annoying buts it’s great they’re happening. Seeing these other people complain about issues they signed in their lease ...shouldn’t fall on the apartment complex. Full rent is due on the first, usually don’t trouble you if it’s there by the 2nd. They just added a new trash valet service. They’re single bedrooms apartments are great for living on your own. The 700 Square foot rooms are the perfect amount of space, amenities, and features. My only area for improvement would be I moved in Nov 2021, and the lady who walked me through was fantastic, very open and friendly. The new lady who runs the obvious is nice. Just more of a closed door environment. She keeps the door closed and sits in the back office. They added one see through on the office windows so I don’t even know if she’s in there. No complaint against her, she didn’t do anything wrong. Just a little unwelcoming.Property Manager Responded

Awful place and horrible parking
March 12, 2022This property is an awful place to live. They don’t ever have parking, literally making us park anywhere between 5 buildings down to 1/2 a mile away. They don’t allow partial payments after the 3rd, sometimes denying payments on the 2nd forcing you to pay all of it at once the day after. They give inspection notices the day of, even if you aren’t home to acknowledge them coming.Property Manager Responded

However, we strive to be proactive and enforce Legacy’s parking policies on a consistent basis. You are correct, once rent is late, rent will only be accepted in full. Please contact the property manager to discuss and investigate your payment issues. We always would like to give residents plenty of notice in advance when we enter apartments and always give a minimum 24 hour notice. Legacy Life
November 30, 2019We moved to Port Orange from out of state July of 2019. We owned our home and sold it to make a big change in our lives. The biggest draw for us was they allow three dogs. There is so rare anywhere! I have read some very negative reviews on here about Legacy and we have never had a bad experience in the six months we have lived here. I can’t speak highly enough about the office staff, they are always so friendly and stayed in contact with me months prior to our move via email and phone calls. I ...love the grounds and the style of the apartments. Coming from the Midwest it’s nice to have the coastal colors of the buildings and the vegetation. The pool area is beautiful and is always kept very clean. The grounds are always well kept and very clean! Speaking of being well kept, I have to say that the maintenance team is PHENOMENAL! I was very worried about moving into a place that we didn’t “own” because in the past we have had not so great experiences as renters. Within hours of moving in our belongings in and getting settled we came across a few things that needed fix. They had three guys to our apartment within minutes! Since then we’ve had our dryer go out and within 20 minutes they had a new one installed for us. The maintenance team are all super friendly and always make a point to love on our fur kids. It really makes you feel like a community. This is a very long review but we are SO happy to be living the Legacy life! Highly recommended!Property Manager Responded

August 8, 2019I had a very bad experience with this complex. Part of it was the staff not responding to emails and part of it was due to my roommate and my neighbors. The neighbors would come in and out many times around 3 am and have loud music blasting at all times of the day and whenever there was a problem maintenance wouldn’t show up and I would end up fixing it myself. The carpets were very cheap and started tearing apart every time we would open the bedroom or closet door. Other than those ...complaints it was a nice location.Property Manager Responded

They Charge you to pay your Rent!!
May 3, 2019The apartments are nice. Certainly not Luxury. I rented one of the new models which is supposed to be better and it's clean enough. Certainly not spectacular for the price. Faucets are clearly old, counters scratched up. But the office staff is really nice, and maintenance are on it! I have put in a few requests and they were handled promptly. Staff is great! The property is well maintained too and really nice. Fun to walk around. The reason for the low starts though, they charge you for ...everything!! The rent is not cheap; but on top of that, no amenities are included. None! Every apartment I have lived in prior included trash, pest and water in the rent. But the worst part. They charge you for the privilege of paying your rent! It is ridiculous to be charged just to pay your bills. The management should either eat the cost of payment processing, or just factor it into the rent instead of nickel and diming their residents. I would honestly have given a five start review if the management company wasn't a bunch of cheapskates.Property Manager Responded

March 2, 2019I lived here for 3 years while I went to school and loved it! The maintenance team is great, the property always looks good and the office staff is really fun to interact with, especially when they have community functions. Every month they have something going on. Waffles and mimosas on a Saturday and the summer pool party were my favorites. If I hadn't graduated, and gotten a job out of state I would have stayed for sure. My only complaint is that there are way too many stop signs.Property Manager Responded

Horrible
March 1, 2019It’s noisey, from outside with people yelling and loud cars. You can hear your neighbors in the apartments next to you. You can hear every person above walking around. Aggressive dogs all around you. Parking is horrible. The apartments inside are okay, but def not luxury and not for the price. The office staff are nice though.Property Manager Responded

Aggressive dogs are a direct violation to the lease agreement and we would love the opportunity to address the situation. It's hard to address concerns from anonymous reviews and we definitely take resident concerns seriously. Also, we have a wonderful courtesy officer that can help in those after hour situations when people are yelling outside, just give the office a call 24 hours a day and they will respond immediately.

February 21, 2019The management is so rude and unprofessional here. Everytime I walk into the office I see Natalie yelling. I’ve worked in property management before and couldn’t believe the staff ignored a potential resident wanting to tour the property. The matienance staff is awful too. I’m constantly waiting days to get repairs fixed and then not even a week later the same repair needs fixed. They don’t listen to what the issue at hand is. This staff needs serious training on how to treat residents and future ...residents. Do not sign a lease here unless you want a matienance staff who fails to fix things.Property Manager Responded
