A nightmare!! Run!

I rarely leave negative reviews, but I hope sharing my experience helps someone else make an informed decision.
We signed a lease with Royal St. George after being assured that our apartment would be move-in ready on our scheduled move-in date. We relied on those promises and paid all required fees, including our security deposit, administrative fees, and prorated rent.
When we completed our walkthrough, the apartment was far from move-in ready. Our move-in inspection documented numerous issues ...
throughout the unit, including damage, poor cleaning, broken and worn fixtures, stains, peeling paint, and several items marked as being in poor condition. We took photos and videos of everything and immediately reported our concerns to management.
Rather than moving into a clean, prepared apartment, we spent our move-in dealing with maintenance issues and waiting for repairs that should have been completed before we ever received the keys.
We waited more than a week, hoping the issues would be resolved. Communication was minimal, and many of the concerns remained unaddressed. We had not slept in or lived in the apartment because it simply wasn’t in the condition we were promised.
To make matters more frustrating, when a transfer to another unit became necessary because of the condition of the original apartment, we were faced with confusion regarding additional charges. We repeatedly asked for clear explanations of the fees and our account ledger but received inconsistent answers. Even after meeting with management and following up by email, we were left trying to reconcile information that did not match what appeared on our account.
Moving is already stressful. It should not involve wondering whether your apartment will actually be ready, documenting extensive deficiencies on day one, chasing updates, or trying to get straightforward answers about charges on your account.
My advice to anyone considering renting here:
* Inspect the apartment thoroughly before signing or accepting keys.
* Take detailed photos and videos of every room.
* Complete the move-in inspection report carefully.
* Keep every email and document.
* Ask for all promises and explanations in writing.
I sincerely hope Royal St. George improves its communication, transparency, and apartment preparation process so future residents do not experience what we did.
