The A/C is terrible. I have never lived in an apartment complex that had to send out a community wide email telling all residents to not expect less than 20 degrees inside the apartment compared to the perceived outside temperature. We have a very old Rheem "High Efficiency" A/C unit that is not efficient anymore and on average costs us about $75 per month in electricity (that's HALF of our electricity bill, sometimes more!) when kept at 74 degrees all the time, not 68 or 70 or anything normal.
...The vents in the upstairs of our apartment are on the floor and there are no ceiling fans which means any cold air that is released up there stays on the floor (hot air rises, cold air falls) and is not cycled very well throughout the apartment so it can get over 80 degrees upstairs where we sleep which is just absurd. The front office (except Mary) was unwilling to hear our complaints or even say sorry for the inconvenience, they just brushed us off like it didn't even matter. If we kept our dog upstairs and it got that hot then he could overheat and possibly die but no one cared when I tried explaining that to them, either. Valet trash is required here even if you don't use it, , on top of all the other trash fees assessed on your bill, which really sucks because we have a dumpster right outside our door and the recycle is not that far of a walk. For how much we pay in trash, the grounds could be better kept up with removing loose trash around the dumpsters, picking up dog remains in the dog park, and other basic trash services rather than "Valet Trash". Speaking of fees, the fees that are tacked on to your bill every month are crazy expensive, so you may see the price tag for renting a unit but add probably $50 to that if not more just in fees and utilities every month. Sometimes it takes a few phone calls and maintenance requests to finally get what we need done, however, we still have baseboards that are not fixed that we were told would be fixed when moving in. I also sent an email voicing my concerns to the regional manager for BH Management (Wendy Harrison) and never heard anything back from her either so, clearly, something is very off with this community. On a positive note, the community is fairly quiet overall, most people that live here are super nice, so many people have pets and they are super pet friendly! We do enjoy living here more than our last apartment, but for what we have it is not worth the price.
