Poor management and maintenance

I've lived at 2425 Northland St. for about 3 years, and I was incredibly disappointed with it. Roaches from the previous tenant were present after awhile (they infest the building and move between units whenever one gets treated). Was told that roaches were "a thing" here by another tenant after moving in. The brickwork in front of our unit was deteriorating and caused water damage to the window, which is being deducted from our security deposit apparently. The laundry room's a bit sketchy. ...

Machines broke down regularly. There were a big jumble of wires sticking out of the fuse box that seemed rather dangerous. The only thing this place is good for is the cheap rent and good location. Otherwise, I'd pick nearly any other apartment over this.

I purchased 2425 Northland in May of 2017. The building was in need of repair and maintenance at that time. This review given by a previous tenant could not be further from the truth as to the current condition of the property. The entire front of the building including the brick, doors, lintels, catwalk, concrete & lighting have all been replaced. The laundry room is professionally & regularly maintained. The buildings electric including fuse panels, furnaces, AC units and hot water tanks have been replaced. In 2018 we added heated concrete to the walkway of the building for snow and ice control in the winter. This tenant who moved out within two months of my purchase was housing two friends in his 400 sq ft one bedroom apartment who were not on the lease and refused to be added. As for roaches being "a thing" I cannot comment on this prior to 2017. However since I have owned the building they are not! The only unit that needed a complete rehab of the interior was the unit ...

the above disgruntled tenant lived in. Including the replacement of less then three year old carpeting, complete renovation of the bathroom, and hours upon hours of cleaning. May I suggest purchasing a vacuum and some scrubbing bubbles prior to your next move. A portion of security deposit would never be held from any tenant for exterior building maintenance items.
