The Empire
August 9, 2015With the name 'Empire' above the entrance, one would expect to be greeted by a doorman in full regalia. I am thankful that my apartment in this venerable older brick building, with dark wood panelled lobby, is where I reside sans doorman. It sits on the corner of a four corner intersection. It is a 7 minute walk from buses, the subway ,shops, grocery, dry cleaners, library, and a plethora of ethnic food restaurants, banks, pubs, live theatres, TV station and more in Central Square.A convenience ...and ice cream parlour are each one block away from my building of 12 apartments. In the summer the street is canopied with greenery and the neighbouring houses with gardens that produce many flowering plants and trees.I am able to smell the perfume of some of these flowers when I walk past them. My apartment is a one bedroom with windows that face onto two streets. The low silled windows with a first floor view, allow me to look out at vehicular and foot traffic. I am even able to hear conversations when pedestrians-adults and families with children walk past or pause momentarily at the mail box outside my window on the sidewalk. When it rains I am able to smell the asphalt and watch the raindrops come down. In winter I take pictures of the snow and snow ploughing activities, and recently witnessed my first viewing of a hailstorm as it noisily pelted balls the size of large marbles at my windows and created quite a ruckus for 13 minutes. My apartment is ideal for a busy working entrepreneur who has to get to work quickly and return home quickly without the hassle of searching for a vehicle-parking spot.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on scale of 1 (below average) and to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider needs as part of the school selection process.
