Live here and you will understand the meaning of peace
January 24, 2026This apartment was a dream. My first experience living alone, I went into everything blind. I did know that I wanted a studio with great lighting and not on the ground floor. Seems simple, right? You don’t even want to know the amount of other rentals I toured just to find those requirements..and came up short. A third floor studio with a thoughtful design was nearly a distant wish, most architects just figure that people who live alone don’t need to be happy in their space (that’s my assumption, ...at least). Until I came upon 505 Dekum; my little oasis. The benefits to a new build are new appliances (in-unit washer dryer, dishwasher, quick functioning heat), and thick walls so you can’t hear your neighbors. Kris took me along on the tour, not only a helpful guide but also a great conversationalist. He made me feel like I was already home before I even signed my lease. When you do end up living here, get to know him. He’s beyond helpful, kind and will be around the premises often to assist the residences and work on the interior and exterior of the building. The rest of the management was always attentive, accommodating in so many ways, all with the most considerate responses, whether it be email or over the phone. You’ll also just love living in this neighborhood. It’s got a very welcoming feel, a bit sleepy but not without some action (especially being so close to Alberta & Mississippi). I’ve seen the local shops and restaurants grow in the last three years, I’m going to miss them. Woodlawn even has a farmer’s market on the weekends! The ONLY reason I’m leaving 505 Dekum is because my family is growing and I’m moving closer to help them out. Otherwise, I would no doubt sign on another several years. Even if I wanted to expand, I’d move to another one of the building’s units that offer more space like a one or two bedroom - there’s lots of options to choose from, all with similar thoughtful designs. I’m going to miss this place through and through. I only hope that every rental in Portland is anything like the people that run 505 Dekum, but I know that’s too good to be true, this home was one of a kind.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com

October 14, 2025505 Dekum is a stunning apartment complex. The units have beautiful modern and minimal touches, with huge windows that allow light to pour in as much as possible. The units have all hardwood floors, which was really important to us in our apartment search. The layouts of these units are just right, and it is easy to envision life in any of the layouts. Don't expect a security deposit back. Horrible management
September 9, 2025Clean soulless modern apartments if thats what you're into. Great area, just expect to have your rent go up 200-300 dollars each year. Love living here
August 27, 2025I have lived here for almost 4 years and I love it. I moved from a 1 bedroom apartment on the 4th floor with a great view to a very spacious 2 bedroom on the 2nd floor and am very happy. The staff are very kind and knowledgeable. Whenever I need anything fixed, it is done right away and correctly. The building and grounds are kept very clean and neat. The neighborhood is very safe. Quality apartment and responsive leasing office
July 2, 2025We absolutely love our apartment at 505 Dekum. The space is beautiful and well thought out. In past building I’ve experienced glamour on the outside while the inside was built as cheaply as possible, though 505 Dekum is great inside and out. The walls are well built so I can’t hear any neighbor noise. All of our appliances look brand new and work perfectly. Kris and his leasing team are SUPER responsive. On my move-in date, the leasing team met me to give me the keys and walk me around and ...explain what I needed to know about the building. I had just finished a long road trip, I smelled bad and I had to pee. What I thought would be a quick key handoff and walk-around turned into a much more thorough tour. Despite my full bladder and painful awareness of my pungent BO, I couldn’t help feeling super impressed by how thoroughly the leasing team knew the building and my apartment. They knew the state of every nook and cranny. East Views of Mt Hood and Mt Saint Helens!
June 28, 2024I love my 1-bedroom apartment on the 4th floor! The East-facing windows are huge and give me incredible views on clear days of Mt Hood and Mt Saint Helens. The apartment is spacious with modern amenities. I appreciate having a washer/dryer in my unit, as well as a dishwasher and AC. The other tenants are cool, quiet and friendly. The landlord really cares about this place and keeps it clean, both inside and out. I always found parking right on this block. There are several great restaurants, ...bars, parks and even the Farmer's Market all within walking distance. I'm only leaving the apartment b/c I'm moving out of the country. Best place I’ve lived in Portland
May 15, 2024Of all the nightmare landlords and building managers that I’ve had to deal with in the city, the crew at 505 Dekum were a light in a dark cave. Maintenance requests are quickly taken care of, staff/owners are hands on and personable, and rather than raise rents drastically each year, they would rather have a community that stays there. October 29, 2023Everyone who works there is extremely nice and helpful, I felt well taken care of the whole time. The huge windows make the space feel even bigger as well as the storage space was very nice! This place felt very homey and the neighbors are kind. Also, cute neighborhood with restaurants super close by, and a big park to walk your dog.
