The Perfect Storm

Elevated rental rates do not match the amenity and finish qualities. What was once a somewhat well-managed property became a building that was seemingly unsupervised. Elevators left in disrepair for nearly a year on end, empty liquor bottles left in the staircase, smells of garbage wafting throughout, and entrance fobs no longer working. What I don't like is that not too long after move in, only one out of three elevators are working with no estimated fix date, so you have a whole building of people utilizing one elevator and you can spend 20 minutes waiting on it. And yes you could take the stairs but the stairwell is not only hot but walking up and down stairs when you live on one of the upper floors isn't exactly ...ideal. And the elevator is always messing up so you never know if it will be you who gets stuck this time. The fire alarms are always randomly going off because the sprinkler system freezes in the winter. Occupants don't care about the other residents because they leave the trash chute open so you can't access it or leave their bags everywhere even after being told not to. People's dogs poop and pee in the elevator, right outside the door, everywhere surrounding the building so you're ALWAYS having to watch for poop bc no one picks it up and when it's warm it STINKS. The heating and cooling system is awful, when the heater is on it cannot regulate to one temperature so if you have it set to 70 it'll sometimes be 80+ degrees when you wake up. I'm constantly having to reset the thermostat and open windows. People are always messing with the doors that enter the building so who knows who you'll run into because there's a large homeless population also in the area. It's not a bad apartment at all but just some things to consider before moving in.Read More

Not only the air conditioning system is inadequate and leaves you freezing in winter, but there is always a bad smell in the apartment entrance and in the halls and the floors are never properly cleaned. The walls are so thin I could hear the guy next-door whisper on his phone!

Since Milwaukee is such a cold place, the heating was really important for me and I was freezing inside for the most part of winter due to poor heating system. The cleanliness is also a big issue with this apartment. There is always trash smell in the entrance and sewage smell in the laundry room and the floors are never properly cleaned. My air conditioning and heat didn't work properly for the ENTIRE year that I lived there. I filed over 15 work orders and Kyle, the property manager, kept telling me there was nothing that they could do to fix it due to not having the correct part. I was without working heat in the winter for many months. While I do understand that supply chains can be slow, this is something you need ...to be prepared for as a property manager so this issue doesn't persist for AN ENTIRE YEAR! Instead, he sent me condescending texts and told me the only thing he could do was move me to a more expensive apartment. Overall, the apartment is ok but the management is terrible.Read More

He is highly knowledgeable, empathetic and always willing to go above and beyond to assist with any unit-related issues. The building maintenance is terrible with highly visible issues. The fire alarm has gone off in the middle of the night twice, causing evacuation into the cold. The trash room had visible pooling of water and produced a powerful stench until management resolved. The washers and dryer room often has wet floors. Though not the fault of the apartment- adjacent parking to ...the building is unprotected. Parking is not included in the apartment price -but several car windows have been smashed since my time here. Due to the recurring issues I would recommend other local downtown apartments. If you desire to terminate your lease you will experience a less than transparent process. I would recommend not signing a lease to begin with. The view is pretty though.Read More

Come to find out it's a horrible property, starting with the management personnel. They charge you extra $ any chance they can, don't respond to texts/emails and essentially disregard tenants after you sign a lease. Maintenance takes weeks if not months to fix the frequent problems that come up. Laundry has been stolen multiple times from the laundry room after only ...leaving it there for a couple hours & they do nothing to help/prevent it. Fire alarm goes off every few weeks for close to an hour at a time. Overall horrible experience and I wish I could advise my past self to steer clear of this hell hole. Wonderful for Grad Students and Young Professionals
September 6, 2021 - Review from Apartments.comI lived in 735 West for two years during my MA at Marquette, and only left recently because I had to move across the country to begin my PhD in the southeast. This is a wonderful place to live! I was on the 10th floor, and my view was positively spectacular. I spent many evenings watching Milwaukee’s gorgeous sunsets while I cooked dinner. My apartment was quiet and nicely updated. Neighbors were friendly. Appliances were new and never broke or gave me trouble. Closet space was limited in my ...studio unit, but it forced me to be very organized and to donate things I don’t use regularly! Management is friendly and attentive, and maintenance always responds promptly. Location makes it PERFECT for Marquette grad students. Especially convenient for history and law students, since the Law School and Sensenbrenner are only a couple of blocks away. I was able to walk to work with ease, even on the snowiest of days.
