Not bad for my first apartment

I had one week to relocate for a new job I got back in March. Being new to Worcester, Massachusetts, I had no idea where to begin - what neighborhoods were safe, what I wanted in an apartment, etc. I found my current apartment, so close to work and in a safe neighborhood. I was thrilled that I was able to move in all before I started my new job (and to only have a 1.2 mile commute to work!).
Almost six months later I am not so impressed. The apartment building smells horrible, other tenants are ...
sloppy and careless. I am a "half-basement" apartment, so at least I get nice windows, but they are so close to the ground level I barley open them. My hardwood floors are beginning to not be attached to the floor any more, I think the humidity of summer caused them all to rise up off the floor. My landlord says he will do something but then never does. No AC, sketchy mail boxes ( I have had packages stolen from me), and I feel like my monthly rent is too much for what I get.
Overall, Being in a safe neighborhood with off street parking and being close to work are the main reasons I'm still here. I am interested in moving someday, but I haven't found anything else in my price range that is just as good or better then my current situation.
