The day I moved in, the apartment not only came with a cockroach problem (which I honestly expected -- it's Florida), but the washing machine was full of dirty rags left behind by the previous tenant. So, they gave us the apartment DIRTYYYYY, like filthy disgusting. I could tell the rags had been left behind for months because they were crusty and stiff.
The first few months were fine; maintenance would come pretty quickly but we sometimes had to put in multiple requests for the same issue
...(they'd have to come multiple times because they didn't fix the issue the first time). It seemed like at least once a month we were putting in a maintenance request, but we didn't think much of it because we are very low-maintenance, easy-going people - it was no big deal. We were still planning on renewing our lease for another year.
However, within the last 3-4 weeks, we have had back to back non-stop issues in our apartment. Roaches, termites, lights stopped working, toilets stopped flushing, fridge broke, dryer broke, balcony door broke, etc. Mind you, we have never once missed a payment or paid late, so the electric/water issues were not due to the fact that anything was shut off. Stuff just keeps breaking now that we are nearing the end of our lease. Also I did have a package stolen from the package room one time, but that was the only time I had an issue with a delivery and since then they have switched to a different package room security system.
Overall, I'd recommend this place if you are a low-maintenance person who doesn't care too much about constantly having to put in requests or having to get rid of roaches. It was a good starting/first apartment; I'd recommend it if you are in college or fresh out of college trying to save some money. The price of the rent here is good and the complex itself is pretty nice (the pools and grills are nice, the gym is okay, nice area for walking, etc.).
I will also say that we live in a "partially" renovated apartment instead of a fully renovated one, and I think that makes all the difference. So, by far, not the worst place to live, but we won't be renewing.
