New Owners with Little Regard for Tenants or THE LAW Make it Tough
August 23, 2015I've lived in this apartment 9 years. 6 years ago, the bldg changed hands. Since then, the new owners ABRA MANAGEMENT have been cited by the city repeatedly for failing to make repairs (leaking roof, plumbing that backs up with sewage, failure to maintain door locks) unsanitary conditions, piles of bldg materials during renovation work being piled up making the pool all but unusable, failure to repair/deal with mold in one unit - and more. When they bought the bldg, they told the prior bldg ...manager, "We know it's rent controlled, but we know how to get these tenants out." Their level of contempt, callous disregard is APPALLING. They told one older woman who has lived here 20 years that her threadbare carpeting would only be replaced if SHE paid for it. They told another who had mold in her carpet (from a sewage back up) to "Wear Shoes, but they wouldn't clean or replace it." They told 2 young women who had black sewage backing up in their bathtub and kitchen - and whose walls were so wet ACTUAL MUSHROOMS grew - that they should just "open a window". But then they removed all the security bars on the ground floor - so they COULDN'T leave windows open. Small but the Location is Great
July 20, 2015I would say that I get good bang for my bunch here. It is a small studio, but with onsite laundry, air conditioning, great restaurants and bars, million dollar homes around me - I couldn't ask for a better deal. Great place to live if you want to stay in shape.Review from Apartments.com
