      • Cockroach Complex should be the name

        July 26, 2024
This place is infested with cockroaches. Do not move here because 9/10 you will be living with cockroaches. This apartment complex has been infested for over a year and they dont make people aware. Will rent you and apartment then tell you they evict you for wanting out your lease. Do not move here it will be the worst mistake you ever made.

Yikes! Are you sure you have the correct community? We're quite proud of the clean and welcoming environment we've established here over the years, hence our confusion. Please contact our leasing office soon so we can get to the bottom of this misunderstanding. Thank you, and be well.

        May 3, 2023
This is by far the worst apartment complex you can find. Look up the news articles from people moving in summer of 2022. Do your research. You will hear every word your neighbors say through the walls, if something breaks it won’t get fixed, and you’ll get the run around from everyone in the office. Nobody is here to help you. They only care about collecting your money & will not hold up their end of the bargain. On top of that, the roads are completely ruined so hopefully you don’t pop a tire as ...
you pull into your home. Trust me, avoid this place at all costs.

      • Extremely slow and careless office

        September 6, 2022
I lived in these apartments for one year and the security deposit is currently over one month past the "maximum time it will take to receive your deposit back." I have called many times and all that they can tell me is "I don't know what to tell you that is someone else job." Their office being extremely slow to get stuff done and respond was a common theme while living here.

        May 31, 2021
Management makes this place way worse than what it already is. People in the office are rude, they will charge you random late fees, close access to the amenities, and do administration changes without telling you. Do not live here. You’re better off living under a bridge.

      • Awful

        April 24, 2021
This place was actually pretty okay when DTN was still in charge. Everything went bad when new management took over. Since re-signing my lease for 2020-21 in 2019, the following has happened: Two shootings, worst of which resulted in 5 people getting injured and 12 cars (mostly residents’) in the lot getting damaged by stray bullets. Zero acknowledgement of the issue by management, aside from an increased “security” presence for about 2 months around move-out/ move-in. Probably to make parents ...
feel good. When I’ve called off hours security in the past, the person answering hadn’t even heard of this complex. Cool. There have been plenty of other times I’ve seen a large police presence outside of other buildings. Also exterior doors don’t lock, which was pretty scary to think about while the shootings were taking place. When management switched over they also changed online rent payment... right before rent was due and without telling anyone that they wouldn’t be able to pay online that month. This was also during lockdown last spring, so many people were gone and had to scramble to send a check. Of course I was still charged a late fee. These units are old and it shows. Kitchen renovation looks nice but upon closer inspection was clearly done on an budget and poorly at that. Gaps in the walls and holes where pipes come through let bugs into my unit (not roaches thank god). They’ve now made themselves at home under my refrigerator eating spilled dog food leftover from the previous tenant. Alerted maintenance of the issue. 2 weeks later pest control was let into my apartment to place traps. No notice that they would be coming. Woke up to bug traps in my kitchen and feeling creeped out that strangers were there, during a pandemic, without my knowledge. Now I’m nervous whenever I hear strange voices in the hall, worried it’s someone else about to enter my apartment without alerting me first. Since management switched, nobody comes around to clean common spaces anymore. I genuinely don’t think the hallways have been vacuumed since lockdown last spring. They’re disgusting. No wonder there’s a bug problem. Lastly the floor in my unit is sagging so bad that the sliding door leading to the balcony doesn’t close anymore and the lock on the door doesn’t even line up anymore. Security concern number 3 for anyone keeping track. Do yourself a favor and don’t bother with this place. The rent is too high to make any of this okay.

      • Awful Management and Shootings

        January 21, 2021
Management will hang up on you and refuses to work with you on anything. They refuse to up security, and still raise rent every year. Charged a late fee because they switched payment platforms without telling us. There’s been an empty unit for months because they can’t get people in here. They also write fake reviews of themselves. Do not live here. We’re leaving come July along with a ton of other people, management is entirely to blame, but they brought it on themselves.

      • Bad Neighborhood

        September 20, 2020
This location used to be good, but is now rampant with serious crimes. There have been at least two shooting incidents, and countless instances of theft. Our own packages were stolen from outside the apartment door multiple times, and today our car rims were stolen! If there is a textbook example of a bad neighborhood, this is it. It's not a safe place to live, and the management couldn't care less. So much for their "increased security" on the premises.

        August 22, 2020
This is an area of higher crime, shootings, consistent fights and break ins. Management knows about all of it and refuses to up the security here. They ignore any ideas on making it more safe and more secure. If you decide to live here, make sure you having nothing valuable because it could be stolen.

      • Roach Infestation for a MONTH

        February 23, 2020
I had to deal with a massive german roach infestation. I sent in two different maintenance requests and didn't get an exterminator in until a month later and only after I went to the leasing office in person. Over the course of that month I spent over 50 dollars on roach poison, baits, and traps to try to curb the problem. Three sticky traps turned up over 70 roaches over the course of a week. They infested my kuerig 2.0, which I had just purchased last year, to the point that I was getting ...
roach droppings and sometimes entire roaches in any cup of tea I made and causing me to become ill and miss work after I unknowingly drank it. I have had to throw out that keurig and buy a new machine, which I have not set up yet because we are still seeing roaches. The boric acid I purchased has cut down on the problem, but it also made our cat sick causing him to suffer from vomiting and diarrhea. Our pantry was completely unusable as it had several roach egg cases and they got into all the food we had stored in there, so I had to spray it with boric acid. This has made using the kitchen extremely difficult as we have lost nearly a third of our cabinet space. Additionally, the apartment below us has suffered 3 leaks from the pipes in ours, which led to DTN ripping out all of the sink and cabinets for three days, and ripping out the sink in our bathroom twice for a total of five days with one less bathroom. After an additional three weeks of back and forth management has decided that I will not be receiving any form of compensation for this. Needless to say, I am very unhappy with management. It sucks because otherwise I really like this place, but management doesn't care about the residents at all.

      • No Communication, Disorganized, Rude

        July 2, 2019
The most incompetent and unorganized office is at College Towne. I first applied to sublease in late April, with the intention of moving-in in May. The entire reason I agreed to take the sublease was because an employee told me that July would be a half payment because the lease was up halfway through the month. We'll get to that. After turning in all my paperwork, and not hearing anything for a week, I called. The clerk on the phone said they found my paperwork and put it on their boss' desk ...
for approval. 4 more days pass. I call again. This time, the clerk lets me know that the woman who was handling my application has been let go and I have to resubmit everything and wait AGAIN. Finally I'm approved. It is now early May. I go in to sign the sublease with the friends I'm leasing from. They had a pet who would be moving with them, and the office assured us the pet fee would be removed. Come June, it still had not been and it took them over a week to remove it from the bill. Here's July. They are charging me for the full month, despite the fact my lease is up halfway through, and despite what THEIR employee told me. The office manager insist that the employee would never have told me that. I leave the office and call the friends I'm leasing from. They both agree that we were absolutely told that July would be half off. The disorganization, attitude, and poor communication of this office is harmful to the leasers.

      • DO NOT waste your money

        August 7, 2018
The staff doesn't know what they're doing; each person provides a different answer. The managers are ignorant, unwilling to help and are condescending when you are trying to understand the random charges on your account. There is such a high turnover rate that the complex hires whomever is willing to take the job. The complex is not very safe. I have had multiple friends' cars get broken into and had property stolen at different locations in the complex. In addition to that, there was a man who ...
violently had his head bashed in right outside of my building, leaving blood stains on the concrete sidewalk. Collegetowne did nothing for that. There are drive-by shootings and often robberies at the townehomes. They hire "security" but it's nothing more than a rent-a-cop who spends most of their time parked in a lot on their phone. For the money, you can live in a more desirable location like downtown East Lansing with upgraded appliances and updated living. There is hardly any light, my AC didn't work - I tried having maintenance come fix it for months - and it is not central. There was a constant loud banging coming from the pipes in my apartment that would wake me up in the middle of the night because it was so loud and aggressive, but Collegetowne never tried to fix it. They told me that I'll get used to it. There were ants in my apartment, everywhere. I did not leave food out nor keep a messy apartment, so I had them sprayed. It was spot sprayed so the ants didn't go away. I know people in other buildings who had roaches. Maintenance will come inside your apartment whenever they feel, without a 24-hour notice. As a woman living by herself, this is scary and uncomfortable. DO not come near this hellish, waste-of-money space. Their staff is so uneducated, unknowledgeable, and unhelpful that it's like talking to a brick wall when you need something. It's because of them I had to hire a lawyer to get me back money they claimed to not have. This is the worst place I have ever lived, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The reviews are all quite similar, do your research on multiple websites. I should've listened.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on scale of 1 (below average) and to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider needs as part of the school selection process.
