  • Bugs and Bad Maintenace

    Avoid this property as it has a cockroach infestation in the apartments close to the office. The AC never cooled the apartment. Maintenance was slow and didn't fix things properly. There was also wasp nests close to the office.

    Avoid this community at any cost.Worst maintenance.They never take emergency requests.Poor appliances.More maintennce cost.We lived for 3 years and it was horrible.

    I will give it a 2 star because there were a few things about the unit itself I enjoyed but for the most part, I did not enjoy living here. My biggest complaint would be the big cockroaches we had throughout the year. The walls are paper thin and you hear absolutely everything. I heard my neighbor snore every night for 15 months. If you had a maintenance request, it would take them a very long time to take care of it. There was one time I called and put in a request. Nobody came for 3 days so I ...
    called to see when they could come, they said "there's no request on file" and they put in another request over the phone, 3 days passed and no one came. I called and they said there was no request on file and that I should have put one in online to avoid it getting lost (even though their worker said twice that my request was put in!). Finally they came the next day and I will say the maintenance man was quite nice, but the experience trying to get them to send him was ridiculous. The pool near my unit was always too filthy to swim in. The toilets grow lots of mold every couple of days. The parking situation is absolutely horrible. And when you move out, you can forget about your deposit. They give you a massive, detailed cleaning list. We spent hours and hours deep cleaning and were still charged a cleaning fee. We not only didn't get any of our $400 deposit back, but they tacked on so many fees that we owed $145. Don't move here. I moved into a new place and it is a night and day difference! In my new place the staff is so friendly and professional, things get done so quickly and efficiently, and the grounds are maintained beautifully! So keep looking. I never realized how refreshing it would be to get out of desert horizon!

  • Beware of poor maintenance Cost

    I have been living in Desert Horizon apartments from past 5 years. It is a nice community to live in, everything is nearby. But, ever since the management has changed couple of years ago the maintenance of the apartments has taken a toll. They use mediocre products to repair stuff. They ask money for every little thing to repair. The leasing office employees do not care about the residents and disrespect us in every which way.     This is the worst managed community I have ever lived in states. I was in three different states before coming to AZ and never received statement with unusual charges while moving out. I lived in this community for just 8 months and moved to other state Paid $350 deposit while signing lease agreement and on top of that I have been asked to pay extra $193 bucks for the charges like heavy food smell(should not cook food), touch-up paint and other charges for no reason. I checked with 5 people who ...

  • Horrible management and Fraudulent charges. RUN

    I urge you to RUN as far away as possible. They should be under investigation by the Better Business Bureau. The floors are horribly uneven, I rolled my ankle twice while living here and suffered serious knee problems. Their cabinets are falling apart. The carpet comes up. They charge $6.00 to replace a bulb. Their maintenance takes forever to resolve even the smallest issues. (Even when it's an air conditioning issue.) Do not trust them. Do NOT sign a lease. And if you do... Photograph ...
    EVERYTHING before you move out. After move out I was sent several photos of a disgusting looking apartment and charged additional fees on top of them keeping my security deposit. I called and sent multiple emails explaining there was no way that was my apartment because I spent two days scrubbing it with Fabuloso with the help of friends. They NEVER RESPONDED and instead sent it to collections. When I followed up AGAIN after it went to collections the "manager" said she was sorry and would call me back in an hour to discuss. Several hours later she sent me an email telling me to take it up with collections. I asked to speak with HER boss and NEVER HEARD BACK. I will be reaching out to their regional office ASAP. If you do decide to live here.. TAKE PHOTOS OF YOUR APARTMENT BEFORE YOU TURN IN THE KEYS. They are scam artists and you should RUN. On a much smaller note... Before I moved in I was given one key to my apartment and I was told there was no gym. Upon move out, they told me I needed to return both keys and the gym key. I explained I was only ever given one key and was also told for the last year I lived there that there was no gym. The employee told me that was impossible because they always give two keys and "of course there's a gym". Instead of acknowledging an employee made a mistake- she tried to make me feel stupid. Fortunately upon move out I showed my signed lease and it was marked down that I was only given one key and NO gym key. Oops. It's always one hidden fee after another and horrible customer service to boot.

  • Bed Bugs and Bad Attitudes

    I discovered bed bugs in the cabinets and behind the base boards the day I moved into the apartments. The management had a million excuses why it wasn’t their fault. They sent the exterminator, who damaged my electronic equipment. When I was cleared to reenter the unit, I did so, and found live bed bugs still crawling on the walls. I’m planning to litigate.     I have lived here for just over three years and the current management are not that great. I have had a/c issues each year. People don’t clean up after their dogs. My rent went up 125.00 a month with no increases in service. In fact less service. They won’t take packages at the office anymore and if it’s too big for the post boxes they installed you have to go all the way to the post office in the Scottsdale industrial park.     I have been living here for 2 months now. The apartment is super noisy. You can hear your neighbor's AC , heater, shower running. The utilities are not metered and can be super high as compared to other apartments where the water supply is metered. The increase is almost 100-120% . The management doesn't want to change the billing system as that will be a costly affair for them.. at least that is what they say. Then there are flies and bugs that come out of nowhere.     I have lived about 1 year. Worst community. The home quality is very bad. Staff is completely unprofessional and not supportive. They will never listen to you.
