Perfect location, great management, only downside is laundry
January 20, 2022Duval Villa stands head and shoulders above the other apartments I have lived in. I lived here 2016-17 and 2018-2020 - I returned for a reason. I did have an updated appliance unit, and I can recommend those very highly. No idea about the non-updated appliances. You don't have your own in-unit washer and dryer - they do have a central laundry facility but the washers & dryers were constantly breaking down and having issues with their payment technology. Often 1/2 to 3/4 of them would be ...out of order. Hopefully they've fixed that by now. Only other complaint I might have is that the bathrooms are poorly ventilated even with a fan, and even the ceilings condensate pretty quickly. Aside from that, management was exceptionally prompt with service requests and very flexible. You get a parking spot free with a unit, which was uncommon for most other apartments I looked at. I planned on getting a 4 month lease somewhere else when I was finishing university in the fall semester, but after I informed management about it, they immediately jumped and offered me a 4 month lease. Can't recommend them enough, they're so good compared to the others I've had. Literally perfect location. You can leave a pot on the stove to get groceries from the mid-size Fresh Plus across the street and be back in 3 minutes. If you like coffee, one of the best cafes in Austin is also catty corner from Duval Villa. Largest selection of beer in Texas? 2 blocks away at Flag Mart. Restaurants? Austin classics like Hyde Park Bar and Grill and Asti are less than a block away, and Juiceland, PLOW Burger, and other more niche places are within two. Public transportation? One of Austin's most serviced bus lines stops less than a block away every 15 minutes, and takes you right to the center of the UT campus in 7 minutes. It was faster for me to bus than to drive to class due to how much closer the bus dropped you off compared to the parking lots. You can easily take public transit to school and nightlife without being caught up living in the loudness of them. This is also my favorite neighborhood to walk in - not a single street in Hyde Park feels unsafe at night (I'm a dude for reference) and I walked them at all hours pretty regularly. It's usually quiet with cute houses to look at. No issues with pests, they sprayed pretty regularly. I look back and miss both the location and the management a lot.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com

August 20, 2015I LOVE this complex! The management is very friendly and is prompt on repairs. It's a very quiet area and the bus stop is right outside. Only downfall is that the laundry room is messy and only 4/8 of the washers work.Review from Apartments.com
