Shady business practice

Be careful renting here. They will knowingly give you minimal information even if you walk into the office in person. Using this tactic they will add on extra fees or extra months of rent at your expense to make an extra penny. I have been renting for 10+ years and this is hands down the worst experience I have had at a rental property.

I moved here in late 2016, and since day ONE I have had to deal with roaches. I'm not talking the large black ones, I'm talking those small, brown German cockroaches that just keep coming. Sure, this place uses a pest control company...but it does no good. They go away for bit, then come back. I've been forced to spend My own money on Roach Hotels to trap the nasty things so I have less to deal with before My upcoming move.

I lived in these apartments about a year ago.... for a week. YES!!!! A WEEK!!!! They look nice from the outside, heck they look nice on the inside, but if you are a bug loathing person like myself, you will be miserable. my apartment was soooooo infested with roaches both large and small that i was unable to even sleep. i notified management three times in my week there and also set off 4 bug bombs with no relief. i had no one living upstairs so the problem was in the walls. the building itself ...

is infested and management is doing nothing the fix the issue. They KNEW the issue was bad because they allowed me the break my lease after one week with no repercussion and even gave me my deposit back. I threatened to take them to court because of the unsanitary living conditions i have a baby who has asthma and this could have caused serious health problems for him. I wish Haltom City Health Code would shut this place down.

Pros: Clean, safe, incredible neighbours, cheap, friendly staff, and I've never seen maintenance fix things (even as small as a clogged drain) so fast. Great maintenance team. Lots of shopping and dining near by. Generally, I enjoyed my stay here and most people who live here have been here for years. Cons: The apartments are all extremely small, almost not liveable, but if you hardly have any furniture and it's just you it works. Also most of the kids are unsupervised and out of control. The one bedroom apartments are decently sized. A single Large Walk-In Closet, Full Bathroom, Decently sized Kitchen. The complex has an on site Laundromat, Exercise Room, Interior Half Court for Basket Ball and Handball and a decent sized Swimming Pool. Apartment management is Effective, Efficient and Friendly. The complex is both family friendly and good for singles.

Desert Sands got us in quickly, that's why we're here. The neighbors are shady, but not dangerous. The floors creak,and the "balcony" has boards that seem like they'll fall through any time. Try to get an apartment facing the parking lot if you have a vehicle. Management is mediocre, thankfully there's so many tenants that the management doesn't bother you. There are limited amenities, too high washers & dryers that stink. The point it, you get what you pay for.
