      • Good apartment, not the best management system

        I lived at the Benmar for two years and generally liked my experience! I would recommend to friends, with a few caveats. The rent was a touch higher than I wanted, but it was convenient and the apartments are in good shape. The building manager was great at coming out to fix things like my dish washer quickly. A few downsides: 1) My packages got stolen and now the Benmar locks the doors better, so it's no longer an issue but was a big bummer. 2) They do go after you for cleaning fees when you ...
        move out. No biggie because they tell you beforehand, but it was more punitive/exact than a landlord of a house would be. This is the first apartment that has deducted minor cleaning fees from my security deposit afterwards. 3) The windows are NOT double paned so I woke up ever Tuesday AM at 5 when the city picked up trash from the alley. I couldn't hear Sawyers or Nocturnal, but you can hear the side streets very clearly through the windows.

        If you're moving to Harrisburg from out of town, avoid HBG realty and the city overall. Just go for something on the west side of the river outside of Harrisburg, or somewhere east of the city that's closer to Hershey.
