Move-in review
March 2, 2026This is my review for move-in. I’ll share more reviews as time passes during our stay here. I first heard about these apartments when I visited a friend who lived in a studio back around 2022-2023 and I thought it was a sufficient arrangement. So much so that I decided to come here in 2026 but into a 1 bedroom. The leasing office staff was very friendly and answered all of our questions when we contacted them about moving in. They gave us a tour of our room, the garage, laundry areas, fitness ...room and indoor lap pool and I didn’t notice anything in particular that was bad or out of the ordinary. We have been parking outside until we opt for the garage spaces and I haven’t had trouble finding a space within a reasonable distance. The room we got is on the first floor and it appeared to be a nice layout for us. I wasn’t expecting to have hard floors which is a plus and all the appliances provided seem to function fine and were clean. No roaches or pests have been noticed and we hope to keep it that way. Community wise I’ve ran into friendly neighbors who seem to give simple greetings and we hope to contribute to that. Ive read the bad reviews and security may seem to be an issue but as an army vet who lived in barracks and having grown up in apartments as a kid, I hope to do my part by cleaning after myself and in making others feels safe by notifying the leasing office or police of anything that looks criminally suspicious. Overall I was pleased with move-in and look forward to my stay here at the Halston and being back in the 75228. Oh and I did notice the exit gates seem to stay open so maybe thats what could be leading to issues of theft but this location is on the better side of John West in my opinion.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com

unsafe and irresponsible to your safety
November 6, 2025I feel not safe in this community, my car was stolen twice in 2 months from the outdoor parking and the property didnt take action to increase the safety. The second time, in the mid day my car was parked right behind the leasing office and it was stolen during work time and the manager said we are not responsible for your safety!!!! I never recommend this community that there is no safety, just check other reviews you can see it happened multiple times.Property Manager Responded

Not the WORST but no where near good
December 11, 2022The apartment complex has bugs, all of my neighbors have spoken about it. I’ve witnessed it. Many times the water has been turned off for an extensive amount of time. Management will will rarely contact you back. Packages go missing. Vehicles get broken in to. A neighbor of mine had her door busted in by a crackhead. The gates rarely work. I 12/10 don’t recommend especially since rent is only increasing and there’s no reason it should be with the amount of issues. So far so good
April 2, 2019Just recently moved into a studio and fell in love as soon as the door was opened had a couple of minor problems but the problems were fixed in a very timely manner! Best apartments i’ve seen while apartment hunting so I just had to! And LaShaye was very professional, helpful and explained everything to me. It’s a Quiet place but people are pretty friendly if you see them outside of their apartment. Looking forward to the next 11 months in the Halston!Review from Apartments.com
Low prices, High risk
July 2, 2018Management (which is always changing) is slow to respond to issues, the apartments themselves are not built well (many structural issues), parking is terrible, and there is a lot of crime in the community. I just completed my renewal and it was easy breezy thanks to the staff in the office staying after business hours to get me taken care of so I wouldn't have to pay late fees. Disrepair ongoing...for years
February 21, 2018Broken appliances, bugs everywhere, wet garages, low security. File w/o’s With little to very slow response. Stink and dirt in most public spaces. We don’t necessarily blame NightVest, but the property owners are out of touch or don’t care.Property Manager Responded

Very happy long term resident
August 1, 2017I can't agree at all with any of the negative posts here. I've been at Halston Apst (formerly The Vineyards) for right at 9yrs. For one thing, the new mgmt just totally remodeled every bldg on the property and redid the landscaping. Everything is upgraded, modern and nice. I'm very proud and happy to live here. The staff are experienced and efficient. I agree with another poster that Cassie is excellent to work with. She's been here long term and knows everything. She could run the property by ...herself and practically has at times in the past. I have no bug infestation but any place can because some residents aren't as clean as others in keeping their kitchen clean and trash removed. Is that the mgmt's fault? Hardly. It's also a very quiet, large property. I have nothing to complain about and there are lots of nice people here, some who are return residents and some longer term than I am. I've been very happy here, and have no reason to move.Property Manager Responded
