Good Place to Live

Glad to be out
August 15, 2024Lived here 2 years too many, windows don’t have any seal so we spent hundreds in the winter to barely stay warm and could feel a breeze often, windows and toilets also got moldy despite being cleaned regularly. One of our maintenance requests never got fulfilled, also discovered we definitely had mice at some point. The appliances are new but everything else is falling apart, especially in the bathrooms. But at least the leasing office got a beautiful renovation :). Rarely interacted with ...management but they handled a railing replacement incredibly poorly and had severe mail issues because of it. I don’t blame the post office for not wanting to use a crumbling bridge with no railing to get to our mail boxes but management didn’t even tell us for multiple weeks we had to go to the post office to get our mail. The railing kept getting pushed back for reinstallation due to weather but then they installed it in the snow anyways? Just don’t even bother, there are much nicer places. Reoccurring mold everywhere
February 12, 2024Do not live here. They never put a vapor lock barrier down in the foundation so with 2 dehumidifiers constantly running the humidity never drops below 65 percent and mold constantly needs to be bleach treated. Stay away. Over priced crap. Doors are jacked. The bathtub sounds like it’s going to fall through the floor when you’re in it. All in all worst place I’ve ever lived.Review from Apartments.com

Great experience for over 4 years!
December 31, 2022My wife and I lived here for two years, and she had lived here two years prior to that in a different apartment. We both really enjoyed our time here and would have stayed longer if we had not bought a house. The location was great for us and convenient to all the westside shopping and restaurants. Maintenance staff was fast and helpful and the office staff was always friendly and professional. We also enjoyed the fitness center and pool, especially during Covid when the office was very observant ...of the CDC guidelines, it made us feel more comfortable using these amenities. Happily Lived Here For 2 Years, Will Be Resigning
December 29, 2022For the location and price, it does not get much better. The kitchen is amazing (which is fantastic because I cook a lot) and the light fixtures are gorgeous. The location cannot be beat - Aldi, Woodmans, the mall, multiple pharmacies / convenience stores, easy access to the Beltline, and one of the largest (and nicest) gyms in Madison is just up the road. Plus having a movie theatre within walking distance is a nice perk. The pool is nice and the other residents are kind. It's a broad variety ...of newly weds, families with young children, students, adults looking for a quiet neighborhood... there's lots of variety, which I appreciate. The reviews saying the walls are thin and loud highway noise initially concerned me (I work from home) but it really isn't a big deal. The street traffic noise is the same as any apartment in Madison (you live in a largish city, there will be street noise) and while I occasionally hear my neighbors vacuuming, it's always between 8 am and 8 pm. The walls are plenty thick enough that I never hear my neighbors talking / their TV. Maintenance is super fast and very professional. The leasing office can be hard to work with - getting my emotional support animal on the lease was not easy. They know the loopholes and will do what they can to keep an emotional support animal out without actually breaking any laws. In the end, I did get my animal on the lease, but be ready to jump through hoops. All in all, I love living here. An okay property but beware of traffic noise
August 15, 2022Overall OK but nothing special. Your typical suburban apartment complex. The biggest thing for me was the HIGHWAY NOISE. The property is wedged in between Watts , High Point and the Beltline so traffic noise is significant. I made the mistake of renting a unit directly backed up the Beltline. Other units are likely not as noisy but be aware. ***Property is somewhat dated although my unit had some fairly-recent kitchen and floor upgrades. Cheap hollow interior doors. Not the greatest furnace ...during the long winters. The hallway in my building sometimes reeked and I don't know old the carpet in there was. My unit had some minor damages on move-in. ***Moderate noise from the other units --walls not soundproof or anything but not paper thin either. ***Fitness room but had to make reservation (a legacy from COVID maybe?); the bigger problem is the fitness room is in a separate building across Watts Road from some of the units which is especially inconvenient in the winter ***Clubhouse room but you couldn't bring in outside guests like your friends or family (also maybe a COVID thing) ***Swimming pool was nice to have ***Management wasn't super-friendly but professional which is all you can really ask for. Loud neighbors; management doesn't care
May 17, 2022They have "quiet hours" 10pm to 8am and yet my entire time living here my upstairs neighbors have been violating this, walking me up almost every day at 6-7am being loud and stomping around. I've taken videos and sent them to management, they claimed it wasn't loud, claimed they couldn't do anything. I've called the police on the neighbors. Perfect for Me (and I read the other bad reviews before renting)
December 9, 2021I've lived at High Point Woods for 7 months now, with plans to stay. I lived in a "fancy" apartment with stuffy rules & stuffy neighbors, HPW is much more my speed. I was weary after reading reviews, but I'm happy I ended up here. Rent is pricey, but I was able to check all my boxes: tub, fireplace, porch, in-unit W/D, cat friendly (free cat rent), storage unit, etc. My neighbors include a mix of families with young children, retired couples, young professionals, and some college students. Folks ...are mostly quiet and keep to themselves, with the occasional little-kid screeches and screams on Saturday mornings when kids play around the complex. Management/maintenance is friendly and accommodating, within reason. They're transparent about what each unit does/does not have and I don't feel "tricked". There have been some car break-ins, but management is upfront when this has happened. I just don't keep valuables in my car. The complex is dated, but clean, and the unit itself is updated with little touches like soft-shut cabinets. They seem to update units regularly. The trim, door knobs, flooring, counter tops, etc. are no-frills, but things are sturdy. There is not central heat/AC in my unit. There is a wall unit A/C in the livingroom and electric heaters in each of the rooms. Some of my neighbors supplement A/C with window units. I didn't think to ask or notice the wall unit during the walkthrough, but I haven't had issues living without central A/C. The property is decently maintained and has a lot of mature hardwoods. Within walking distance of Woodman's, Walmart, Petsmart, and 2 or 3 restaurants. My building doesn't have an elevator, which made move-in a struggle, but I like that I get the exercise everyday. There is a church nearby and I enjoy sitting on the porch and hearing the church bells. Neighbors don't always follow the rules (I smell cigarette smoke occasionally despite being "smoke-free"), but it's a nice change from having neighbors try to report you for every little thing. Storage units are similar to a shed. I have seen water/condensation and bugs, so it's worth keeping items in hard plastic containers. HPW is exactly what I was looking for. I feel far more at home here than my previous place and I feel comfortable (especially snuggled up by the fireplace). If you like things pristine, modern, and perfect, this place isn't for you. No Thanks
July 25, 2021Management could either be super cheerful or rude. Maintenance staff are nice but sometimes take a bit to come around. Over-priced and poor quality. Walking through it, the floors creak as there are dips in the flooring, as well as being able to hear every single movement the tenant above you makes. Would not recommend.Review from Apartments.com
Newly Renovated, Amazing staff, so helpful

We moved into a mostly newly renovated unit knowing that the kitchen would be finished when we were living here- they worked with our schedule to get the kitchen done and do it so fast. The office workers are so kind and personable. Maintenance is timely and does a great job. SO HAPPY TO BE OUT! BEWARE!
July 1, 2019So yesterday was the last day of my lease and I am so happy to be out! Don’t be fooled by the “nice” apartments when you move in. Totally gross, I’ve had multiple instances of mold in the apartments aswell as ants and mice. Maintenance decent however can’t really rely on the property manager to have them look at the apartments in a timely fashion. Property manager is nice until you sign the lease then she treats residents as if they are inconvenient when making requests. Not to mention they ...repaved a large part of the parking lot WITH NO NOTICE UNTIL AFTER they towed several cars! A lot of cars get broken into and the office just say there is nothing they can do so it’s not even like it’s a safe place to live.
