Poor treatment from management

BEWARE if you’re moving into a unit that has never been occupied. There will likely be issues with the apartment, and getting them resolved may be a frustrating process.
It took us until the end of July to realize our AC was running for hours at a time when the thermostat was set to just 72°F. previous month—even after we stopped using the AC and switched to a swamp cooler.
I attempted to contact the office manager, Alicia, to request a partial credit for the increased electricity cost and provided documentation showing the dramatic increase in our usage and cost. Rather than addressing the situation, she repeatedly refused to take my calls. I was told she would call me back, but she never did. Eventually, I had to walk into the office to find her myself. She told me an email response had been drafted and that she would send it over.
The email she ultimately sent was dismissive, uninformed, and completely out of touch with what was actually happening in our apartment.
She stated:
“When outside temperatures reach extremely high levels, such as the 102°F temperatures experienced in July, an AC system may only be able to maintain an indoor temperature around 77–82°F, regardless of where the thermostat is set.”
I guess they assume 77–82°F is an acceptable temperature inside your apartment during the summed?
The HVAC technician specifically told us that the air coming out of the unit was around 70°F when it should have been closer to 50°F.
Yet Alicia is telling me there was nothing wrong and that our bill was normal?
She also said:
“While this is an increase, we are seeing that many customers are experiencing increases of $100 or more during this period.”
That makes me wonder how many other residents are experiencing the same AC issues and being told this is normal.
Instead of acknowledging the discomfort we experienced, apologizing, or making sure the issue was addressed as quickly as possible, I got excuses, unanswered calls, and a response that completely ignored the facts.
I am very surprised and disappointed in how this was handled. I had expected better communication and accountability from management.
