Here's a list of reasons not to rent here: -Pests- roaches, mice and BED BUGS will run you out -HEAT IS ALWAYS OUT- there is an email weekly about the heat being out. I have emails to prove it- winter months we are freezing. We had to purchase space heaters. - ELEVATORS- are always out- we lived on the 8th floor and it required walking up and down the dark and creepy stairwell - Terrible communication: Getting ahold of anyone at the leasing office over telephone or email is impossible. ...

If you speak with the manager or assistant manager (both) aren't fit to handle tenants professionally. They lack the ability to communicate properly. In all communication tenants were met with aggression for any matter. - Lack of follow through: As I'm writing this, I received a notification that a work order I submitted several days ago has been completed. Surprise, it hasn't. - Maintenance: We recorded all damaged items in the apartment when we moved in in 2024. (It's now January 2025.) None of these things have been fixed. - Drainage issues: Major pluming and drainage issues in the tubs, toilets, sinks and dishwashers. (significantly nasty) this is passed along to the tenant to fix. This was a monthly out of pocket expense

Pest infested, rampant package theft

Before you rent here, I urge you to look at reviews for Ivy Residences (and their former name, Hyde Park Property Management). And if you still decide to tour the place, don't get bedazzled by new appliances and finishes - look for gaps where radiators and plumbing enter the walls, wide spaces between ventilation grates, and cracks in walls and floors. If you see those gaps - know that in this building you will get infested with roaches, mice, and bedbugs (if the unit doesn't already have a ...

hidden infestation). It's a shame - the building had some beautiful classic architecture in the entrance/lobby (whereas now when you enter the lobby all you'll think about is the dread of taking the awful smelling elevators) and my room was spacious for the sq footage due to an efficient layout (I'll miss the walk-in closet), but Ivy squandered its potential when they took over from UChicago.
