By far the worst thing about renting from them is simply the fact that we cannot pay online, or anywhere in DC for that matter--we have to mail a check every month. But luckily most banks do that for you now! The basement unit is by far the best, because it's only 3 steps from ground level, and in the bedroom we have 3 windows. We have a front and back door, and get the most sunlight I've ever seen in a basement unit. Additionally, it's the most spacious of the 3 apartments in the building. All of the units have been updated/modernized, and include a washer/dryer! We love having the trash right outside the door so it's simple to take out. Though we have this theory that it also causes fruit flies in the summer. We rarely have maintenance issues in our place, and must say UHOP is very responsive. Sometimes it may take a few times for them to get it right, but they try. The neighborhood has exploded over the past 3 years and so now there are new bars, restaurants, and condos that create a fun atmosphere. I guess the only other downfall of the apartments are having no amenities, such as a pool or lounge, but that's offset by the price of our rent-which fortunately has not exploded with the neighborhood boom. And we were on a waitlist for a parking spot, and now have that. If you ask me, this place is GOLDEN.
